In one example, the electric toothbrush includes a housing, an output shaft positioned within and extending out of the housing, a magnetic assembly positioned within the housing and configured to impart an oscillation motion to the output shaft, and a spring positioned within the housing. The spring includes a first end non-rotatably coupled to the housing and a second end non-rotatably coupled to the output shaft, such that the spring twists as the magnetic assembly oscillates the output shaft to amplify the oscillation motion of the output shaft generated by the magnetic assembly.

The water flosser may include a latch assembly that selectively retains the tip to the body. In one embodiment, the cap, the tip and the latch assembly are all rotatable as a unit about a defined axis relative to the body. An ejector button may be provided to actuate the latch assembly. In one embodiment, the ejector button extends through an upper surface of the cap. Actuation of the latch assembly may include displacement of the ejector button in a direction that is parallel with a rotational axis of the tip. In some embodiments, the reservoir of a water flosser includes a tapering volumetric section that concentrates a volume of fluid about an inlet of a tube coupled with a pump.

Fluid flows from a fluidically connected hose to the tip during irrigate mode, and fluid flow may be interrupted by selecting a pause mode. The handle includes a mechanically controlled actuator for selecting the pause mode. The actuator may be operably connected to a shuttle valve that is positioned to block fluid flow to the tip during pause mode but not during irrigate mode. The handle may also include a swivel assembly. The swivel assembly prevents rotational movement of either the handle or the hose from being transmitted to the other, such that rotation of the handle will not affect the position of the hose.

Attached to the connector may be a bristle element, which may include multiple individual bristles glued or otherwise affixed to the connector. The bristles may be arranged in a circular pattern; water may flow around the individual bristles or through the center of the bristles.
