摘要： The invention relates to the provision of systems, apparatuses, and methods for handling specimens excised via a hookwire localization procedure. The apparatus includes a base structure, an enclosure body, a top structure. The enclosure body includes a hookwire opening and a plurality of top structure securing portions. The base structure, enclosure body, and top structure are configurable to form an inner chamber to receive an excised specimen. In some embodiments, a volume of the specimen chamber of the apparatus may be selectively adjustable by selecting one of the plurality of top structure securing portions to use in receiving the securing portions of the top structure.

摘要： There is provided a textile configured for strain sensing. The textile includes a strain sensing portion integrally knitted in the textile. The strain sensing portion comprises a plurality of first groups of courses of yarn, each first group of courses of yarn including a first course of conductive yarn including a plurality of knitted loops, a second course of dielectric yam including a plurality of knitted loops, and a third course of conductive yam including a plurality of knitted loops. The second course is arranged in between the first and third courses and configured to have a higher elasticity than the first and third courses such that when the strain sensing portion is at a relaxed state, a knitted loop of the plurality of knitted loops of the first course and a corresponding knitted loop of the plurality of knitted loops of the third course are caused by a corresponding knitted loop of the plurality of knitted loops of the second course to be in contact with each other, and when the strain sensing portion is at a stretched state, a knitted loop of the plurality of knitted loops of the first course and a corresponding knitted loop of the plurality of knitted loops of the third course are caused by a corresponding knitted loop of the plurality of knitted loops of the second course to be not in contact with each other.

摘要： Structures, methods of tuning and methods of fabrication for a dynamically reconfigurable color-tuneable device are provided. The device includes a functional layer sandwiched between a top electrode layer and a bottom electrode layer. The top electrode may include a transparent electrode material. The functional layer includes a first layer of mobile highly reflective elements and a second layer of an amorphous or mesoporous dielectric material. The device can be color-tuned by providing for a first predetermined time duration a first bottom electrode voltage to the bottom electrode which is positive as compared to a first top electrode voltage simultaneously applied to the top electrode to tune a viewable color of at least a portion of the top electrode from a first color to a second color. The color originates from the movement of mobile highly reflective elements to the amorphous or mesoporous dielectric layer when an electric field is applied.

摘要： There is provided a method of forming a polymeric thin film having shape memory properties. The method includes: forming a liquid-soluble supporting layer on a substrate; depositing a shape memory polymer layer on the liquid-soluble supporting layer, the shape memory polymer layer having a ratio of lateral dimension to thickness of 10 4 or greater; and removing the shape memory polymer layer from the liquid-soluble supporting layer and the substrate to produce a free-standing polymeric thin film comprising the shape memory polymer layer, of which is free-standing, wherein said removing the shape memory polymer layer from the liquid-soluble supporting layer and the substrate comprises dissolving the liquid-soluble supporting layer in a liquid to release the shape memory polymer layer from the liquid-soluble supporting layer.

摘要： A structure and method of forming a structure are provided. The structure includes a membrane with tensile properties and a plurality of reciprocal patterning units disposed within the membrane. Each reciprocal patterning unit includes a plurality of struts and each of the plurality of struts are configured to provide tension forces in a plurality of opposing directions to an area of the membrane in each reciprocal patterning unit. The membrane exerts compression forces on each of the plurality of struts and each of the plurality of struts exert the tension forces on the membrane simultaneously to maintain structural integrity of the structure.

摘要： A communication method 100 for an industrial control system (ICS) is disclosed. The communication method 100 includes the step of receiving network packets that are being sent to an address in the ICS. The network packets carry critical payloads 1000 and non-critical payloads 1100. The communication method 100 further includes selectively capturing a critical network packet 1000. The critical network packet 1000 is identified based on a predefined list of critical payloads capable of controlling a physical state of the ICS. The communication method 100 further includes generating a signature Sig k {p} 1300 from the critical network packet 1000 using a signing algorithm and transmitting a combined network packet 1200 that includes the critical network packet 1000 and the signature to the address. The communication method 100 further includes receiving the combined network packet 1200 at the address, and verifying the integrity of the critical network packet 1000 by authenticating the signature 1300 using a verification algorithm.

In a described embodiment, the method includes sequentially directing each of a plurality of lighting patterns at the target 142, each lighting pattern comprising a plurality of illuminations from respective ones of a plurality of emitters 108, receiving, at a plurality of sensors 118, reflected illumination of each lighting pattern as reflected from the target 142; and determining the position of the target 142 using the reflected illuminations of the lighting patterns and a first classifier previously trained to associate the reflected illuminations to a position of the target 142. In the method, each lighting pattern differs from other lighting patterns by at least an intensity of one of the illuminations; and the intensity of the illumination from at least one emitter is variable between more than two levels.
