    • A foot actuated striker apparatus comprises a striker element pivotally carried on a mounting member extending upwardly from the base. The striker element comprises a carrier arm carrying a striker head. The carrier arm is pivotally mounted on the mounting member. A linkage mechanism couples the striker element to a foot pedal, so that when the foot pedal is depressed downwardly, the striker head is urged to strike an object. A sensor housing is located on the carrier arm and carries a piezoelectric sensor sandwiched between first and second vibration damping pads. The sensor detects a strike of the striker head against the object, while the first and second vibration damping pads damp put secondary vibrations in the carrier arm. The sensor produces an electrical signal indicative of the strike, applied to a drum sound simulator to produce a selectable drum sound, and which is substantially noise free.
