摘要： The present invention is a method for making a golf ball (10). Two cups are molded from an elastomer separately from a center (12). The cups are molded on both sides of a center mold plate with hemispherical protrusions having a channel circumventing the protrusions to capture excess cup material. The material in the channel aids in centering of the hemispherical cavity and allows the reduction or elimination of reinforcing polymer material. The protrusions force the elastomer cup material into cavities in outer mold plates on either side of the center mold plate, thus forming cups with cavities. The solid or fluid-filled center is placed within the cup cavities, and the cups are joined, preferably by raising the temperature of the mold above the cure activation temperature of the cup material.

The geometry and number of projections (70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 122, 124, 126, 132) on the traction member (14a-f) can vary, thus vary the traction level exhibited by the member. The traction members (14a-f) can be provided to a golfer in sets with various levels of traction.

摘要： A low compression, resilient golf ball having a center and a cover, made from a polybutadiene reaction product having polybutadiene, a cis-to-trans catalyst including an aromatic component, and a free radical source. The reaction product typically has a first dynamic stiffness measured at -50 DEG C that is less than about 130 percent of a second dynamic stiffness measured at 0 DEG C. A multi-layer golf ball having a center, at least one intermediate layer disposed concentrically about the center, and a cover. At least a portion of at least one of the center, intermediate layer, or both, are made from a reaction product including polybutadiene having a cis-to-trans catalyst that includes at least one aromatic component and a free radical source. In particular, the use of various combinations of polybutadiene, cis-to-trans catalyst including at least one aromatic component, free radical source, filler, and cross linker, produces golf balls and golf ball components that are resilient (fast) and have low compression (soft).
