    • A restraint (11) is configured to restrain a rider's footwear (10) to a motorcycle footpeg (12) along at least a nearly vertical first axis (8). The footpeg (12) extends away from the motorcycle (6) along a second axis (18). The restraint (11) is based upon a combination of a hook (42) and a clasp (16). The restraint (11) can be engaged by linearly moving the footwear (10) alternatively along either of two axes including the first axis (8), and a third axis (20) that is mutually perpendicular to the first (8) and second (18) axes. The restraint (11) may also be disengaged by linearly moving the footwear (10) along the third axis (20). The third axis (20)generally passes from the heel to toe of the footwear (10). Moving the footwear (10) in a backward direction, that is in the toe to heel direction, engages the restraint (11); moving the footwear (10) in a forward direction, that is in the heel to toe direction, disengages the restraint (11).
