    • An intermediate node obtains a lead packet of a plurality of packets in a session having a unique session identifier, modifies the lead packet to identify at least the intermediate node, and then forwards the lead packet toward the destination node though an intermediate node electronic output interface to the IP network. The intermediate node also receives, through an intermediate node electronic input interface in communication with the IP network, a backward message from a next node having a next node identifier. The backward message includes the next node identifier and the session identifier. The intermediate node forms an association between the next node identifier and the session identifier, stores the association in memory to maintain state information for the session, and obtains (e.g., receives) additional packets of the session. Substantially all of the additional packets in the session are forwarded toward the next node using the stored association.

    • Disclosed are a method and device for updating a processing manner of a service flow packet, which can adjust a processing manner of a service flow according to a result of processing the service flow packet by an SF node. The method comprises: forwarding, by a first service function chain (SFC), a first packet of a service flow; obtaining, by a control node, a flow identifier and indication information from a service function (SF) node of the fist SFC, wherein the indication information is used for indicating a manner for processing a second packet of the service flow, the flow identifier is used for identifying the service flow, and the second packet reaches a processing node later than the first packet; obtaining, by the control node, the manner for processing the second packet according to the indication information, wherein the manner for processing the second packet does not include forwarding the second packet along the first SFC; and sending, by the control node, the flow identifier and the manner for processing the second packet to the processing node.

    • Example embodiments described herein provide systems and methods for transmitting data packets between a protocol sender and a protocol receiver in a cloud environment, having either the protocol sender or the protocol receiver residing within a virtualized host. A protocol acceleration module may observe the data packets transmitted along the data path between the protocol sender and the protocol receiver using protocol stack configuration information of the protocol sender. The protocol acceleration module may override the protocol stack configuration information with policy-based protocol stack configuration information such that data packets transmitted from the protocol acceleration module to the protocol receiver use the policy-based protocol stack configuration information. For various embodiments, the protocol stack configuration information of the protocol sender is not modified.
