    • The present invention provides a compact fluorescent lamp. The compact fluorescent lamp comprises a spiral compact fluorescent burner (110) and an envelope (120) for covering the burner. The envelope has an opening (130) through which the burner can be placed in the envelope and is made of an elastic material enabling deformation of the envelope. The diameter of the opening is smaller than a largest diameter (DO) of the burner when the envelope is in an undeformed state; and the diameter of the opening (D2) is larger than the largest diameter of the burner (DO) when the envelope is in a deformed state. In this way, the envelope can be better protected from shattering. In addition, the envelope can match exactly with the profile of the burner, and then the space between the burner and the envelope can be small. Furthermore, for the same size of the envelope, a bigger burner can be implemented, so that more lumens per cubic meter can be achieved.

    • A method of manufacturing a fluorescent light bulb includes the steps of: (a) providing a lighting base which has a plurality of electrical terminals formed thereon; (b) bending an elongated fluorescent tube to form a lower vertical-extending portion and an upper curving portion outwardly and radially extended from the vertical-extending portion; (c) communicatively linking every two of the fluorescent tubes to form a plurality of fluorescent elements, wherein a light passageway is formed between the two curving portions of the fluorescent tubes of each of the fluorescent elements; (d) mounting the fluorescent elements at the lighting base; and (e) electrically coupling the fluorescent elements with the lighting base, so as to allow the fluorescent light from the opposed fluorescent element to pass through the light passageway so as to enhance a brightness and efficiency of the fluorescent elements.
