    • This invention concerns a water level indicator for use in a system container (4) which can be filled with water and has an elongated, cylindrical indicator (6) which is essentially enclosed. A float (10) in the indicator container is in contact with an indicator element (12) having a long stem (11). In the lower part (8) of the indicator container's side wall, at least one aperture (9) is located where the distance between the lower end of the float (10) and the indicator element (12) is smaller by a length (a) than the inner length of the indicator container (6). An upper part (7) of the indicator container (6) is transparent over at least one length (a) in at least some areas. The lower border of the aperture (9) (of which there is at least one) is located at a height (h) above the floor (15) of the indicator container (6). The height (h) and the cross section of the aperture (9), as well as the cross section of other optional apertures (17) located above the aperture (9), are such that, when the free-standing water in the system container (4) is below level (h), the remaining water in the indicator container (6) evaporates in approximately the same time required for the quantity of water in the system container (4) below the level (h), including the bound active water, to be used. This invention concerns a process for adjusting a water level indicator employing a float for a plant substrate system which takes into account bound active water in the system.

    • Solid detergent preparations are disclosed for use in dish washing machines in the form of pressed pourable grains with a powder density of at least 700g/l; these preparations can be manufactured using little or no water and with a minimum of drying processes. To that end, solid components, including at least some builders, alkali carriers, oxygen bleaches and/or bleach activators, are used, together with other substances at least some of which are liquid or plastically deformable (fluid phase) at temperatures above 30 DEG C. The fluid phase contains at least one additional component which is solid at temperatures below about 30 DEG C and has a melting point of below 60 DEG C. Also disclosed is a process for manufacturing solid detergent preparations, whereby the components in a homogenous mixture are extruded at a temperature above 30 DEG C, cut into the predetermined dimensions and, if necessary, shaped. The additional component of the fluid phase is allowed to set by cooling.
