    • Optical connectors are provided for connecting sets of optical waveguides (110), such as optical fiber ribbons to each other, to printed circuit boards, or to backplanes. The provided connectors include a waveguide alignment member (105) for receiving and aligning a plurality of optical waveguides (110) such that central light rays of light exiting the plurality of optical waveguides propagate along a same incident direction (115) in a same incident plane XY. The optical connectors also include a light redirecting side that comprises a plurality of segments (130) forming a row of segments (130a, 130b,...), each segment corresponding to a different optical waveguide. A first segment (130a) redirects light along a first redirected direction (140a) and a second segment (130b) redirects light along a second redirected direction (140b) different from the first redirected direction. Other segments redirect light to either a first redirected direction or a second redirected direction. The light is redirected to two or more rows of optical lenses (150). Also provided is a cable assembly that includes a provided connector and a plurality of optical waveguides permanently attached to the connector.

    • A viewing device is disclosed. The device includes a projector that projects a first imaged light, and a polarizing beam splitter plate that receives the projected first imaged light from the projector and reflects the received first imaged light for viewing by a viewer. The polarizing beam splitter plate also receives a second image and transmits the second image for viewing by the viewer. The polarizing beam splitter plate includes a substrate and a multilayer optical film reflective polarizer that is adhered to the substrate. The reflective polarizer substantially reflects polarized light having a first polarization state and substantially transmits polarized light having a second polarization state perpendicular to the first polarization state. The polarizing beam splitter plate includes a first outermost major surface and an opposing second outermost major surface that makes an angle of less than about 20 degrees with the first outermost major surface. By enhancing the flatness of the polarizer, the resolution can be improved. The polarizing beam splitter plate reflects the received first imaged light towards the viewer with the reflected first imaged light having an effective pixel resolution of less than 12 microns.

The cable assembly comprises at least two connectors (1) separated by at least one separator (3) having a first locking member (330) thereon, each of said at least two connectors including an insulated housing (10) and a plurality of contacts (11) received therein, each contact having a tail portion (110) extending beyond a bottom wall (13) of said insulated housing; a printed circuit board (2) having a front portion (21) and an opposite rear portion (22), with a plurality of conductive tracing holes (210) arranged on said front portion and a plurality of conductive pads (220, 221, 222, 223) arranged on said opposite rear portion; wherein the plurality of conductive tracing holes are accommodated therein with said tail portions of the plurality of contacts, respectively; a flat cable (4) including a number of electrical cores (41), wherein these electrical cores of said flat cable are electrically attached to the plurality of conductive pads, respectively;; and a shielding shell (5) formed with an inner space therein, wherein at least portions of said at least two connectors, said printed circuit board, at least a portion of said at least one separator and at least a portion of said flat cable are accommodated in said inner space, wherein said shielding shell (5) is provided with a second locking member (5130) being engaged with said first locking member of said separator.
