摘要： A coring tool is provided for preparing the end of a coaxial cable (10) having an inner conductor (12), a precoat layer (16) adhered to the inner conductor (12), a dielectric material (14) adhered to the precoat layer (16), and a surrounding tubular metallic outer conductor (18). The coring tool comprises a housing (30) having an open end (34) adapted for receiving the coaxial cable and a cutting tool (32) mounted to the housing (30) and extending coaxially toward said opening (34). The cutting tool (32) includes a cylindrical coring portion (54) having an outside diameter sized to be received within the outer conductor (18) of the coaxial cable (10), an axially extending bore (33) for receiving the inner conductor (12), and at least one cutting edge (56, 58) at the end of the coring portion (54) which is configured for creating a tearing component on the dielectric material (14) and precoat layer (16), rather than slicing the dielectric material (14) and precoat (16).

摘要： A coaxial cable is provided with a specially prepared precoat layer that facilitates removal of the precoat layer when the end of the cable is cored in preparation for receiving a connector. The cable includes an inner conductor; a foam polyolefin dielectric layer surrounding the inner conductor; an outer conductor surrounding said dielectric layer; and a precoat layer disposed between the inner conductor and the dielectric layer. The precoat layer forms a first bond interface with the inner conductor and a second bond interface with the dielectric layer, wherein the ratio of the axial shear adhesion force of the first ("A") bond to the axial shear adhesive force of the second ("B") bond is less than 1, and wherein the ratio of the axial shear adhesion force of the "A" bond formed by the precoat layer between the inner conductor to the dielectric layer to the rotational shear adhesion force of the bond is 5 or greater.

摘要： A method of making a coaxial cable includes forming a conductive tube and setting a settable material therein to define an inner conductor. Forming may include advancing a conductive strip and bending it into a tube having a longitudinal seam. The settable material may be dispensed onto the conductive strip continuously with the forming. Alternately, the settable material may be dispensed onto the conductive strip prior to advancing. The dispensing may use a puller cord as the settable material or carrying some or all of the settable material. The method may further include forming a dielectric layer surrounding the inner conductor, and forming an outer conductor surrounding the dielectric layer.

摘要： The present invention is a corrosion-protected cable, a method of making a corrosion-inhibiting cable, and a corrosion-inhibiting composition. The corrosion-inhibiting composition includes a water-insoluble corrosion-inhibiting compound dispersed in an oil, and a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of propylene based glycol ethers, propylene based glycol ether acetates, ethylene based glycol ethers and ethylene based glycol ether acetates. The corrosion-inhibiting composition is preferably applied to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable, e.g., by wiping of by immersion, and heated to provide a corrosion-inhibiting coating that is not tacky or greasy.
