    • A suspension system (10) for mid-span connection of a paravane (P) or other article to a cable (C1) of a towed cable array (A) includes first and second hanger assemblies (20a, 20b) connected to the cable (C1) in an axially spaced relationship. In particular, the hanger assemblies (20a, 20b) are connected respectively to first and second bulbous cable regions. The bulbous cable regions are formed on the cable using inner insert elements (40), a first set of preformed helical rods (22), outer insert elements (42) positioned over the first set of helical rods (22) in the region of the inner insert elements (40), and an outer set of preformed helical rods (24). Each hanger assembly (20a, 20b) includes a housing (30a, 30b) and a rotatable collar (52a, 52b) connected to the housing. An attachment member (80a, 80b) is pivotally connected to the collar and rotates therewith. The inner and outer insert elements (40, 42) of each bulbous region optionally include aligned apertures (144, 146) that receive an alignment pin when properly positioned about a cable (C1).

    • An expansion-joint system (48) for forming a seal between a steam turbine and a condenser includes an expansion-joint belt (50, 51) having a width-wise cross-sectional shape with first and second knobs (62, 64) at respective first and second opposite ends (72, 74) of a thinner elongated web (70). The knobs are formed by an abrupt bulge (66, 68) on only a first opposite side, while each of knob portions (76) of a second opposite side of the belt, opposite the bulge, forms a substantially straight line with a lead-in portion (80) from the elongated web. The knob portion and the lead-in portion of the second side are parallel with a symmetrical center (57) of fabric layers (56) in the belt. In one embodiment the substantially straight line formed by the knob portion and lead-in portion of the second side continues over a distance of approximately at least twice the length of the bulge. Clamping mechanisms (52) for clamping onto the first and second knobs each includes a clamping element (84) to be attached to a wall and having an indentation for receiving the bulge, and a clamping bar (88) having a substantially flat surface for mating with the knob portion and lead-in portion of the second side of the joint belt.

    • A seating unit comprising two adjacent and mutually pivotal support elements (3, 4) pivotal between an initial position and a maximal flexed position. A spring element (12) is secured between the support elements (3, 4) and provided with a spring means (18, 18') biassing the support elements (3, 4) into the initial position. The spring element (12) comprises a base member (13) arranged in the adjacent area of the support elements (3, 4) and engagement means engaging each their own support element (3, 4). At least one engagement means extends from the base member (13) into a cavity (14, 15) in one of the support elements (3, 4) such that the support elements (3, 4) may pivot relative to each other. Said at least one engagement means is provided with a rigid stop means (17, 17') projecting from the base member (13) and defining the maximum flexed position. The at least one engagement means is further provided with a spring means (18, 18'; 68) to restore the support elements (3, 4) to their initial position.
