    • The invention relates to a heat compression molding process for the manufacturing of composite material articles, the process comprising the steps of i) providing a mold (20) in which the negative shape (31, 32) of an article (30) to be manufactured is formed; ii) inserting into said mold (20) an SMC semi-finished product (10) comprising one or more sheets of composite material comprising a matrix of a heat-hardening resin and carbon fibers, the mold being pre-heated at a temperature suitable to allow the cure of said heat-hardening resin; iii) closing the mold (20) and carrying out a compression cycle in an autoclave according to a predefined time- pressure law; and iv) extracting the article (30), wherein the amount of SMC semi-finished product (10) inserted in the mold (20) is calculated by weighing on the basis of the volume of the article (30) to be manufactured. The size of the surfaces of the SMC semi- finished product (10) intended to contact the surfaces of the shape (31, 32) are calculated so as to cover said surfaces in a percentage comprised between 70 to 99%, in particular higher than 80% and less than or equal to 99%. Thanks to these characteristics it is possible to obtain manufactured articles substantially free from surface defects and suitable for both structural and aesthetic uses.

    • The present invention relates to a mould system and a method for net moulding of a co-cured integrated structure (1) comprising a skin (26) provided with stringers(4) and rib feet (2) and with a gap (6) between the stringers (4) and the rib feet (4). The mould system comprises a substantially rectangular frame (12) made of a low heat expanding material,a number of substantially rectangular boxes (8) made of a heat expanding material, connection plates (16) made of a heat expanding material and fastening means (14). By means of the connection plates (16) the gap (6) is obtained. A moulding assembly (64) is created by applying prepregs to the surfaces of the boxes(8), by connecting the boxes (8) to each other and by surrounding the connected boxes (8) with the frame (12). The moulding assembly (64) is treated in a conventional way in an autoclave in order to cure the structure (1). Thereafter the frame (12), the boxes (8) and the connection plates (16) are removed.

    • This invention relates to a method of preparing a hybrid composite laminate (100) of layers of fiber reinforced material (101, 102) of different resin viscosities. The method comprises providing in a mould a first layer (101) of a pre-impregnated material and a second layer (102). An uncured resin film (200) is placed between the first and second layers (101,102). A resin of a second viscosity is provided to impregnate the second layer (102). The viscosity of the resin film (200) is equal to or higher than the lowest viscosity of the first and second resins, whereby the resin migration between the fibrous layers during the resin impregnation may be controlled. The invention further relates to a composite laminate and a wind turbine blade (400) component prepared by a method as mentioned above.
