摘要： A dental device has a U-shaped carrier (10) with at least one channel (12) for embracing an arch of teeth. Discrete inserts (14) carrying a beneficial agent can fit into insets recessed in the channel and release the agent gradually. When the device is used in a primarily therapeutic application, the inserts may be installed into some or all of the insets forming various insert patterns. When the device is used as an athletic mouthguard, temporary blanks (18) may be initially fitted in the insets (15), while a portion of the mouthguard is softened before an arch of teeth is pressed into the channel to make a custom impression. The inserts (14), which may be replaced or refreshed to maintain the beneficial agent, are later installed in the insets, possess different physical properties than the carrier and may be positioned and shaped to mechanically buffer teeth from mechanical shocks, as well as release beneficial agents.

The peroxide product includes a package having a headspace, a substrate disposed within the package, and a thin layer of a composition having a peroxide active and a polyol, wherein the thin layer is disposed adjacent the substrate. The peroxide product also includes at least one means for increasing the stability of the peroxide active of the composition. The thin layer of the composition has at least about 43 % of its original concentration of the peroxide active at twelve months after manufacture when stored at about 25 DEG C and in the absence of light.

摘要： This invention provides a dental hygiene system, incidentally attractive to children, based on a free-flow "toothpaste" composition in the form of a plurality of beads each having substantially impervious walls; each portion or bead including about enough toothpaste for an average cleaning procedure. Bead consistency, flavour, colour, shape, or size, can be varied, for sale as mixtures or as single kinds. A toothbrush having a handle modified with one or more internal cavities (one holding oral hygiene tables; the other holding dental hygiene beads) is included in the system. Preferred bead manufacture involves formation in a mould and selective drying of the bead wall. The novel toothpaste makes a substantial contribution to reduction of environmental waste (no waste tubes) and allows the manufacture and distribution of single-unit kits for oral and especially dental hygiene.

摘要： A method of applying a dental composition to tooth structure of a dental patient includes the act of providing an applicator having an empty chamber at least partially surrounded by flexible wall portions. A tip portion of the applicator is placed into a bulkcontainer having a quantity of dental composition, and the wall portions are squeezed together. When the wall portions are released, a portion of the dental composition is drawn into the chamber by suction. The wall portions are then squeezed together once the tip portion of the applicator has been placed next to tooth structure of a dental patient in order to dispense at least a portion of the dental composition directly onto the tooth structure. Since a sufficient amount of composition is drawn from the bulk container before the applicator is placed in the patient's oral cavity, the likelihood of cross-contamination between dental patients is substantially reduced.
