    • A fill system (10) for filling a container (25) is set forth. The container (25) to be filled has a bottom portion (and a plurality of sidewalls defining a container cross section). The filling system (10) comprises a fill pipe (125) having a product inlet (135) and a product outlet (140), a valve rod (155) disposed in the fill pipe (125), a flexible outlet extension (75), and an umbrella-shaped sealing member (165) having a bottom portion (170). The valve rod (155) and the sealing member (165) are movable between a first position in which the sealing member (165) engages and seals the product outlet (140) and a second position in which the sealing member (165) is disengaged from the product outlet (140). The bottom portion (170) of the sealing member (165) is preferably shaped to conform to the interior bottom portion of the container (25). The flexible outlet extension (75) extends from the product outlet (140) and is dimensioned to engage and conform to the sidewalls of the container (25) during filling thereby to inhibit mixing of product and air during the filling cycle. Additionally, the bottom portion (170) of the sealing member (165) may be used to engage the bottom of the container to assist in displacing air from a sealing region defined by the flexible outlet extension (75) and the walls of the container (25).

    • An asymmetric hydrocyclone (110) is modified and controlled so as to effectively remove contaminants of substantially neutral buoyancy from a paper cellulosic pulp. More specifically, a method includes prepositioning a substantially frusto-conically-shaped separation chamber of the hydrocyclone at an oblique angle to a vertical axis, and introducing a cellulosic pulp through an inlet (113) and into the separation chamber (112) for separation processing. As is known, the pulp composition forms a downwardly-directed helical path, which in turn establishes an opposingly directed, upward helical air core. Centrifugal forces motivate heavier particles toward the sidewalls (140, 142) of the separation chamber and lighter particles are urged toward the air core, with particles of substantially neutral buoyancy circumferentially collected in an intermediate region, but in relatively close proximity to the air core. The method further includes the step of relationally controlling pulp composition pressure at the inlet (113) and outlet (114) to constrict and stabilize the air core and move the intermediate region containing neutrally buoyant contaminants into a reject stream formed near a reject tap (130).

    • The disclosure relates to a laminated, web-shaped packaging material intended for packaging containers in which the longitudinal joint has improved gas- and liquid-tightness properties and is as good as planar. The laminated, web-shaped packaging material includes a core layer (11) and a layer of metal or metal oxide (12) applied on one side of the core layer, and is processed along the longitudinal edges of the web in such a manner that the metal layer is exposed from the core layer along one of the edges (B') and the edges are then covered with outer layers of plastic (E). The processing of the longitudinal edges preferably takes place by oblique cutting (A) and may be put into effect in connection with a first, wide material web being split lengthways into a plurality of narrower part webs. The outer, covering layer of plastic is preferably applied on all part webs simultaneously by coating with a plastic layer over the entire width of all part webs, including laterally interjacent predetermined spaces (C), the part webs being subsequently once again separated by means of an incision through the plastic layer between the longitudinal edges (D) of the part webs. A packaging container is produced by tube and fold formation of the laminated, web-shaped packaging material in such a manner that the longitudinal edges of the material web are sealed to one another in a joint in the longitudinal direction of the tube, such that the edge in which the metal layer is exposed from the core layer overlaps the metal layer in the opposing edge (F) of the material web.
