    • Network-enabled electrical power distribution equipment includes one or more networked intelligent devices coupled to a power distribution system and measuring and storing at least one sensed condition in the power distribution system; a server in the power equipment for storing a document that can be accessed by browsers and that contains data relating to the sensed condition; a content management system in the power equipment for maintaining a document that can be accessed by browsers and that contains a log of information relating to the power equipment; and a user interface for accessing the document containing the log of information and editing the information contained in the log. The log of information relating to the power equipment may be a web log or a wiki. The content management system can be included in a web server in the power equipment, the user interface can include a web browser, and the network can include a LAN, a private WAN and/or a public WAN such as the Internet.

    • An independent automatic shedding system that automatically allows any combination of loads to powered under limited power availability (such as a standby power source) without overloading the generator or rewiring, while contributing to the stability of the power grid. A motorized disconnection actuation mechanism under control of a controller disconnects or recloses the contacts of a branch circuit breaker. A sensor detects the presence or absence of a power source and the type of power source, which is classified according to its type. A power source classification program is executed by the controller that interprets the sensor data and causes disconnection or reclosing of the disconnection actuation mechanism depending on a desired status (ON or OFF) of the branch circuit breaker when standby power is available. Conventional circuit protection is provided an optional advanced circuit protection such as ground or arc fault circuit interruption.

    • An electrical device, such as a circuit breaker, for interrupting the flow of current, which includes a stationary contact, a blade having a movable contact, a releasably latchable trip lever, a bimetal, and a magnetic armature. The movable contact is movable into and out of engagement with the stationary contact. The trip lever is releasable from a latched position for movement to a tripped position to cause separation of the stationary and movable contacts. The bimetal causes the release of the trip lever from the latched position by having the armature drawn a predetermined distance in response to a predetermined short circuit current. The trip lever is held in the latched positioned by a hardened latch having a minimal surface area, which is positioned near an opening located in the armature. When the predetermined short circuit current flows through the bimetal, the trip lever moves to the tripped position.
