    • A valve having a body (12) including a fluid passage (14), a valve seat (16) defining an orifice and including a sealing gland (20) having a support surface. The support surface (26) includes a notch (28). A resilient valve seat member (22) is disposed within the sealing gland. The valve includes a valve sealing member (32) disposed within the fluid passage and configured to seat against the valve seat member to effect sealing of the valve sealing member to the valve seat and thereby close the orifice. The notch is configured to facilitate application of a fluid pressure on the valve seat member to prevent leakage through the orifice when the valve sealing member is seated against the valve seat member.

    • A shut-off valve assembly for refrigerant liquid and/or gases comprising a valve body (1) having an inlet port, an outlet port and a flat annular valve seat, a bonnet (2) fitted on the said valve body, an axially shiftable externally threaded valve stem (3) provided in the said bonnet, a mechanism (20) to move the valve stem is rigidly fixed on the said valve stem, a valve disc (4) is provided, a circular collar, an annular groove provided adjacent to the said circular collar to house the resiliently compressible deformable circular ring (5), a circular disc having a pair of holes, a sealing ring (6), a retainer plate (7) rigidly fixed to the lower portion of the said valve disc holding the said sealing ring. An annular resiliently deformable backseat bush (12) is fitted in the annular groove wherein the said annular seat (13) is seated against the said resiliently deformable backseat bush to ensure that the refrigerant liquids and/or gases are not allowed to escape in the event of the replacement of gland packing. A conical annular projected seat is provided with a pair of projections to fix the lower rounded end of the said annular seat to be movably fixed in the matching conical hollow cavity provided in the inner surface of the said valve disc, which are held in position with the help of a pair of locking screws (9) provided on the outer portion of the said valve disc, which in turn is secured by a locking spring provided in the groove on the outer surface of the said valve disc.
