    • A flat plat plate heat exchanger coil typically used in a bulk material heat exchanger is provided. The flat plate heat exchanger coil is designed to operate under a negative internal pressure to eliminate depressions or dimples that are typically formed into the sides of these types of heat exchanger coils during the manufacture process. With the removal of the depressions or dimples the tendency for bulk material to accumulate to the exterior surface of the coil is reduced, thereby increasing the service period of the coil. The flat plate is also provided with methods of automated cleaning of the plate coil, such as applying a low positive internal pressure in a cyclic manner to dislodge material accumulated on the coil, bumping the coil to causing a shock wave through the coil or providing means to create a shearing effect between adjacent coils to dislodge material accumulated on the exterior of the coil.

    • The invention relates to mechanisation of a short-term heat treatment process and /or to hardening loose materials, and can be used at a stage of thermochemical activation in the production of catalysts, carriers, adsorbent agents, dehumidifiers, filling agents, ceramics, magnetic materials, inorganic pigments, solid electrolytes, medicinal and cosmetic preparations etc, for drying and cooling processes in the chemical, food and woodworking industries, etc. The invention makes it possible to adjust a loose material flow rate, orderly distribute it on a hot surface providing a firm contact between the material and the surface, accelerate the heating of the loose material, reduce a time of contact, to rapidly heat and harden a heat treated product in order to fix the metastable structure thereof and reduce the energy consumption. The inventive device for heat shock treatment of loose materials comprises a vertical shaft arranged inside a body and provided with a plate fixed thereto, a material flow adjustment unit mounted in the lower part of a reservoir for basic material. The shaft is rotated by a drive. Said device also comprises a system for cooling and hardening heat shock treated products. A working surface of the plate is embodied conical or curved in such a way that it is allows said surface to be enlarged upwards. The inventive method for a heat shock treatment of the loose materials using said device is also disclosed.

    • Several components relating to a heating apparatus which preferably are used in conjunction with each other in an apparatus for heating solid granular or particulate material, such as aggregate used to make asphalt concrete. One component of the present invention includes a heater-condenser unit (32) which indirectly heats the material by circulating heat transfer fluid within hollow plates (24) contained in a housing (232) holding the material. The heat transfer fluid used in the heater-condenser (32) preferably is supplied in the form of a vapor or gas involved from liquid contained in material heated by another type of heater (38). In this other type of heater (38), the material to be dried enters a chamber (106) containing hollow heat exchange plates (180) through which a primary heat transfer liquid is circulating.
