    • This invention relates to a device for producing cellulose which includes the following: a cooking reactor which contains sulfate alkali liquor and a lignocellulose material; a DC source and electrodes in contact with the sulfate alkali liquor; and a capacitor connected in parallel with the DC source. The electrodes in contact with the sulfate alkali liquor have a spark gap, and a switch is connected between the capacitor and the spark gap. The device is provided with two inductance coils and with an additional spark gap, connected serially with the main spark gap. A first plurality of the inductance coils' ends are connected between the additional spark gap and the capacitor, the second end of one inductance coil being connected between the main and the additional spark gaps, and the second end of the other inductance coil being connected between the switch and the main spark gap. The device is provided with an inductance coil, an additional capacitor and an additional spark gap, the latter being connected serially with the main spark gap. The additional capacitor is connected in parallel with the additional spark gap, the inductance coil being coupled by one end between the additional spark gap and the condenser and by the other end between the switch and the main spark gap.

    • Paper and absorbent products having reduced pitch content and enhanced properties, including increased tensile index, tear index, burst index, Scott Bond, smoothness, and stiffness. The extracted wood particulates are then pulped (272) and formed into paper and absorbent products with enhanced properties. Due to the extraction of volatile organic compounds, the pulping and paperforming stages of the process are substantially free of emissions of volatile organic compounds that occur naturally in wood. Moreover, the extraction of pitch reduces or eliminates pitch fouling of equipment and permits the production of paper products of enhanced qualities.
