The retainer (40) includes at least one flow aperture (50) and an upwardly extending plug (44) having a plug shoulder (46). The dispensing valve body (60) is bounded by an exterior surface (62), an interior surface (64), a valve perimeter (66), and a dispensing orifice perimeter (68). When the dispensing valve body (60) is positioned on the retainer (40), the dispensing orifice perimeter (68) fits securely around and seals against the upwardly extending plug (44); and the valve perimeter (66) forms a sealing relationship with the interior spout surface (32). The retainer (40) engages the spout (22) to seal the dispensing valve body (60) within the spout (22).

    • A modular cap delivery system (200) comprising an elastomeric seal (110) and conformably engaging seat (100) can be affixed to or integrated in the neck of a container such as a bottle, flexible bag, tube, or any container having a neck and holding a quantity of a flowable medium. The configuration of the seal and seat eliminate the influx of air, airborne pathogens, or any contaminant into the container of flowable medium to which the delivery device is attached, thereby maintaining the integrity and sterility of a flowable material, even when challenged by direct contact through immersion in suspensions of bacteria or viruses. The delivery device is highly scalable in size, can work for viscous fluids that are difficult to flow, and enables a flowable material to be reformulated without preservatives or antioxidants. This provides the advantage of an enhanced therapeutic effect for many medications, particularly eye care solutions. The sterility of a product such as Ultra High Temperature (UHT) milk and other dairy products can be maintained without the need for refrigeration. When used as a cap for fitment over a bottle of wine, it can substantially prevent oxidation and degradation of wine after the container is opened. The delivery system also can be used to maintain the carbonation of soft drinks, beer, or the like, even over repeated usage thereby prolonging the useful life of a carbonated beverage substantially to that of the beverage's shelf life.

    • A valve (30) and method are provided wherein the valve has a membrane (32) which is molded and cured in a naturally cupped or concave shape, but wherein the membrane is elastically inverted or deflected inside-out so that the direction of concavity is reversed. The membrane is positioned concentrically within a cylindrical or tubular dispensing spout (38) so that the inverted membrane is cupped toward an exit direction of the spout. By inverting the membrane, a reliable radially-outward sealing bias is formed between a peripheral edge of the membrane against an interior of the tubular spout. When mounted on the bottom of a squeeze container, the valve is effective to dispense fluid from the container when squeezed, permit air to breathe back into the container after squeezing, and to sealably prevent leakage from the container.

    • A dispensing closure for dispensing fluid product from a squeeze container consists of an outer cap element (3) and an inner element or valve disc (4) fitting inside the cap element. Each is moulded from thermoplastics; no elastomer is used. The cap element includes an outwardly-deflectable diaphragm wall (35) around a central outlet opening (361). The inner element (4) has a peripheral mounting ring (41), a central blocking portion (48) and a set of support spokes (46) providing flow clearance between them. In a closed position the blocking portion closes the outlet opening. In an outflow condition the diaphragm wall (35) deflects outwardly to allow flow. In a recovery mode the blocking portion (48) deflects inwardly for compensation air or residual liquid product to enter the container.
