    • An adjuster operable to vary the tension in a lumbar support band (2) which in use extends transversely across a seat backrest. The adjuster includes a mounting (4, 6) and a drive mechanism (9) which connects one end of the support band (2) to the mounting (4, 6). The drive mechanism (9) has a longitudinal axis which extends generally in the longitudnal direction of the lumbar support band (2), and the mechanism includes two spindle parts (10, 11) which are telescopically arranged and which coact in a manner such that their combined longitudinal extent varies in response to relative rotation about the longitudinal axis. One part (10) also coacts with the mounting (4, 6) in a manner such that relative rotation between that part (10) and the mounting (4, 6) causes the part (10) to move longitudinally relative to the mounting (4, 6). It is a feature of the arrangement that when one part (10) moves longitudinally in one direction relative to the mounting (4, 6), the other part (11) also moves longitudinally in the same direction relative to both the first mentioned part (10) and the mounting (4, 6). The coaction between the spindle parts (10, 11) and the coaction with the mounting (4, 6) is preferably achieved through cooperable screw threads (12, 13, 14).

    • An adjustable support system for a seat having a fixed frame includes a support movable from a first position to a second position relative to the frame. An actuator is coupled to only the support and is configured to move the support between the first and second positions. A member is operatively associated with and movable by the actuator. A flexible cable has a first end coupled to the member for travel along the length of the member and a second end coupled to the fixed frame such that movement of the member by the actuator causes the flexible cable to move the support between the first position and the second position.

    • A support assembly having a first support region with adjustable degree of support and a second support region with adjustable degree of support for use in a seat structure is provided.
