    • A novel gauge for estimating the life of a structure such as a frame of a dump truck and a method capable of easily estimating the life of a structure by the use of said gauge without the need of troublesome calculation. The gauge is provided with annular parts (5, 6) of a similar shape at opposite ends and a band-like connecting part (7) integrally connecting the annular parts and having opposing V-shaped cutaway parts (8, 8) at the mid-portion, and a gauge (2, 3, or 4) comprising a thin gauge proper shorter in life than the structure (1) and a crack gauge (9) attached to a part between said cutaway parts (8, 8) is fixed to a required position on the structure by welding or the like, whereby a breaking time is determined from measured variation in resistance of the crack gauge and the life of the structure (1) is estimated on the basis of said breaking time.
