摘要： An improved method, apparatus and article of manufacture are disclosed for modeling the response of induction logging and other electromagnetic tools to subsurface formations. The improvement of the computer-implemented method is determined by an improved 3D solution of the 3D Maxwell equations, including the following steps: (i) formulating a set of frequency-domain Maxwell equations, including a Maxwell operator; (ii) generating a Krylov subspace from inverse powers of the Maxwell operator by computing actions of an inverse of the Maxwell operator; and (iii) repeating (ii) as needed to achieve convergence of a frequency-domain solution.

摘要： A logging method and system for imaging a subterranean formation intersected by a borehole (12). A magnetic dipole generates an electromagnetic field in the formation, and an electric field induced by the magnetic dipole is sensed. The electromagnetic field is sensitive to bed boundaries and other changes of formation characteristics, and becomes induced when encountering the changes. Monitoring the time and magnitude of field inducement yields information about the presence and location of the bed boundaries and target formations (82). The magnetic dipole is oriented transverse to the borehole (12) axis, and measurements of the electric field take place in directions that include transverse to the orientation of the magnetic dipole and transverse to the borehole (12) axis, parallel with the borehole axis, or both.

摘要： Various downhole logging tools and methods of using and making the same are disclosed. In one aspect, a downhole logging tool (10) for inspecting one or more well tubulars (20, 35, 40) includes a housing (60) adapted to be supported in the one or more well tubulars by a support cable (13). A first transmitter (T 120 ), a second transmitter (T 125 ) and a third transmitter (T 130 ) are positioned in longitudinally spaced-apart relation in the housing and are operable to generate magnetic fields. Driving circuitry is operatively coupled to the first transmitter, the second transmitter and the third transmitter to selectively fire the first transmitter, the second transmitter and the third transmitter in multiple transmission modes to generate magnetic fields to stimulate pulsed eddy currents in the one or more well tubulars. A first receiver (R 125 ) is positioned in the housing to sense decaying magnetic fields created by the pulsed eddy currents. Electronic circuitry is operatively coupled to the first receiver to determine a parameter of interest of the one or more well tubular from the sensed decaying magnetic fields.

An electric current runs through the probe, and with the probe positioned close to a tubular connection, movement of the probe along the length of the connection, with the electric field encompassing surface features on the tubular, will cause a change in the electrical impedance (conductivity) which enable identification of the connection seam or other defined attributes (the "target" attributes). The power tong/backup unit can be positioned accordingly. A portfolio of profiles of non-connection seam surface features of different tubular connections maybe generated, stored in a database, and accessed by the system, which enables identifying the connection seam/face with greater accuracy. Other attributes of the invention include storing profile information on RFID tags, and storing and accessing tubular information from a cloud server or other form of remote database.

摘要： Method and system for improving the speed and accuracy of determining formation properties using multiple logging data are disclosed. Logging data relating to the formation of interest is obtained and used as an input. High frequency noise is then removed from the logging data and bed-boundary determination is performed using the logging data. An adaptive low pass filter is applied to the logging data and the logging data is inverted. The inverted logging data is then visually interpreted.
