    • The object of the invention is a method for manufacturing a wooden beam in which method at least one web part (10) and at least one flange part (12a, 12b) are joined together with double-sided spike plates (18) that are placed in a joint between the web parts and the flange parts. Before joining the web parts and the flange parts together, a recess (16) that is essentially as wide as the edge of the web part and in longitudinal direction of the flange part is formed on the flat of the flange part by means of some suitable woodworking method. The depth of the recess is preferably 5-10 mm. After this, double-sided spike plates are pressed against the edge of the web part. Alternatively, double-sided spike plates may be attached to the recesses of the flange parts instead of the web part. Finally, the edges of the web parts are set against the recesses of the flange parts and the web parts and the flange parts are pressed against each other, whereby they bond together. Preferably several double-sided spike plates are attached at a distance from each other to the joint surface between the web parts and the flange parts. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the double-sided spike plate is attached to the edge of the web part or to the recess of the flange part first only partially, whereupon the spike plates are fully attached to the web parts and the flange parts when the latter two are pressed against each other.
