    • A method of reducing co-channel interference in a cellular telecommunication system having a congested serving cell, a plurality of neighbor cells controlled by a mobile switching center (MSC), and an accessing mobile station attempting to access the cellular system in the serving cell. The MSC fetches (16) signal strength information from mobile stations camped on the serving cell's digital control channel (DCCH). The signal strength information includes received signal strengths at the camped mobile stations from the serving cell and the neighbor cells. The MSC then fetches (27) signal strength information from busy mobile stations involved in on-going calls in the serving cell. For each busy and camped mobile station, the expected downlink signal strength from each neighbor cell is subtracted from the maximum downlink signal strength from the serving cell (28). The mobile station/neighbor cell combination with the numerically least difference causes the least co-channel interference when the identified mobile station is moved into the identified neighbor cell. If the identified mobile station is the accessing mobile station (34), the MSC redirects the accessing mobile station to access the cellular system in the identified neighbor cell. If the identified mobile station is a busy mobile station involved in a call, the MSC forces a handoff of the identified mobile station to the identified neighbor cell.

    • Procedure at cellular mobile telephone system which makes possible for an operator to re-allocate the traffic load from one cell to another at packet switched connections in said system, and reroute mobiles which have GPRS-functionality, to cells which are less loaded. The throughput of data in GPRS is increased by letting the connections utilise several time-slots within the same time-frame. A netowrk controlled "cell re-selection"- algorithm orders the mobile to make a "cell re-selection" to one by the network specified cell, at which the algorithm can be used both at set-up of the data calls and during the session in progress.

    • A technique for controlling an allocation of radio resources in a radio access network, RAN (300), is described. The RAN (300) is configured to provide multi-connectivity to a radio device (308-12) through multiple cells (306-1, 306-2) each associated (305-1; 305-2) with a resource allocator, RA (304-1; 304-2). The RA (304-1; 304-2) is configured to allocate radio resources to the radio device (308-12) in the respective cell (306-1; 306-2). Each RA (304-1; 304-2) is associated (303-1; 303-2) with a resource regulator, RR (100-1; 100-2), configured to control the allocation of the respective radio resources by the respective RA (304-1; 304-2) to the radio device (308-12) according to a share of the respective radio resources in the respective cell (306-1; 306-2). As to a method aspect of the technique, a first control information (310-1) from a second RR (100-2) associated (303-2) with a second RA (304-2) associated (305-2) with a second cell (306-2) of the multi-connectivity is received at a first RR (100-1) associated with a first RA (304-1) associated (305-1) with a first cell (306-1) of the multi-connectivity. The first control information (310-1) is indicative of second radio resources (312-2) allocated to the radio device in the second cell. The allocation of first radio resources (312-1) to the radio device (308-12) in the first cell (306-1) is controlled by computing the share of the first radio resources in the first cell (306-1) depending on the second radio resources (312-2). A second control information (310-2) is sent from the first RR (100-1) to the second RR (100-2). The second control information (310-2) is indicative of the first radio resources (312-1) resulting from the computed share.

    • Reallocation of a capacity boost cell (150) between first and second operators in a cellular radio communications network is carried out by detecting a drop in load for the first operator, in the area of coverage of the capacity boost cell, below a first threshold, and reallocating automatically (210) the capacity boost cell to the second operator in response to the detected drop in load, if the first operator has authorised a reallocation. The capacity boost cell can be reallocated automatically (220) back to the first operator in response to detecting a subsequent increase in load above a second threshold for the first operator. This can improve utilisation of the capacity boost cell during low load periods while still having it available for the first operator for high load periods, and can provide access to additional capacity for the second operator without need for costly additional infrastructure.
