    • A method of liberating intracellular matter from biological material having cells with cell walls includes subjecting the biological material to rapid pressure increases and decreases, and exceeding the elastic limit of the cell walls with the pressure increases and decreases, thereby opening the cell walls and liberating the intracellular material from the cells. This produces a heterogenous mixture of cell wall fragments and the intracellular material. Where the biological material includes pieces of plant animal or fungal material, the method can further include separating the cells of the pieces form each other with the pressure increases and decreases when the elastic limit of intercellular bonds are exceeded. Water and volatiles in the biological material is liberated and vaporized, producing a substantially dry mixture having a lower water content than the original material.

    • The invention relates to a housing for a crushing machine, comprising active abrading tools, i.e. a hammer, joined to a rotor which is accommodated in said housing, in addition to an anvil included in the housing as a counter tool, and inactive abrading members which are both secured to the rotor and lodged inside the housing. The invention also comprises an orifice for introducing the material that is to be crushed and at least one grid as an inactive abrading member, an ejection door for removing heavy pieces in addition to an impact wall segment lying opposite to said door as an inactive abrading member, and horizontally assembled housing components arranged on at least one plane, one of which can be pivoted outwards around at least one rotational point. At least parts of the abrading members (17, 18.1, 18.2, 19) are secured to the housing (1) by means of screws (31) on the respective abrading member (17, 18.1, 18.2, 19), and form distinct abrading areas in the crushing process in such a way that abrading members (18.1, 19) with increased wear resistant properties when compared to the other abrading members (18.2, 17) are arranged around the rotor (32) on the sidewalls (7, 11) of the housing (1). All of said features result in harmonious abrading qualities of both the housing (1) and the rotor (32) with regard to design, shaping, material composition and/or reciprocal allocation, thereby enabling approximately uniform maintenance intervals to be obtained.

    • A mineral crusher comprises a roller (50) having a plurality of impeller bars for impelling mineral material against a collection plate (100), upon which a collection of mineral material accumulates. The material thrown against the accumulated material is reduced by impact with the accumulated material. The collection plate is adjustable, so as to adjust the size of mineral accumulation, and is tiltable so as to spring away from the roller when oversize objects, e.g. pieces of metal or blocks of wood pass through the crushes. The arrangement may have an advantage of incurring reduced wear on the collection plate (100), which may require less frequent replacement. The collection plate (100) is relatively easy to manufacture.

    • The apparatus comprises a canister (110), an impeller (120) disposed within the canister, and a means (130) for rotating the impeller. The objects to be crushed are fed into the canister through an inlet port (111) formed in a first side plate of the canister. The crushed objects are discharged from the canister through an outlet port (112a, 112b) formed in a second side plate of the canister. In one embodiment, the canister is formed such that the cross-sectional shape of the canister parallel to the first side plate is asymmetric with respect to the axis of rotation of the impeller. The apparatus can crush ore having a mean diameter of 2 inches to 50 mesh particles in a matter of seconds. Better uniformity of size of the discharged particles is obtained than in prior mills. The apparatus of the invention requires little maintenance since the impeller and canister interior sustain little wear or fatigue.
