Each insert (104a, 104b, 104c) includes a slot (114a, 114b, 114c) configured to receive an arch wire therein. The configurations of the slots (114a, 114b, 114c) are different so that during use, one insert provides movement of the tooth in a first direction (e.g., so as to rotate the root of a lateral incisor away from an adjacent erupting adult canine) while another insert provides movement in another direction. The system advantageously provides for a first movement of the tooth, followed by a second movement of the tooth (which may be opposite in direction), without requiring removal of the bracket (102). The bracket system (100) and method may be used with mixed dentition patients where rotation of a tooth root away from an adjacent unerupted adult tooth is desirable.

A method of correcting dental misalignments includes providing a representation of a patient's mouth to a computer for determining a course of treatment. Pre-adjusted self-aligners are created corresponding to stages of treatment. Each pre-adjusted self-aligner is removably attached to a corresponding model of the patient's mouth at intermediate stages. A first pre-adjusted self-aligner is removed from the model and attached to the patient's teeth. The first pre-adjusted self- aligner is removed after a predetermined time. A subsequent pre-adjusted self aligner is installed on the patient's teeth and removed after a specified time. The installing and removing process is repeated until treatment is completed.

    • The present invention provides a device and procedure for straightening and leveling of teeth anterior to the molar (chewing) teeth. The procedure utilizes a blocked tube (1) having a channel (12) and an extension (16) and blocking wall (14). The extension extends from the blocked tube and is substantially parallel to the channel, and the blocking wall extends upward from an end of the extension and is substantially perpendicular to the extension. The blocking wall extends to a same height as the channel with respect to a bottom of the blocked tube. The procedure further uses conventional brackets and wires. The wires are ligated to the brackets and threaded through the channel of the blocked tubes. The wires are cut and contact the blocking wall of the blocked tube.

    • A force generating device is described which includes an elastomeric force generating member (10). Preferably the elastomeric member (10) is an elastomeric polymer tube (24). Each end of the tube (24) can be fitted over collars (16, 18). Attached to one collar is a piston (20), and formed within the other collar (16) is an orifice (22) for slidably receiving the piston (20). When compressed, the force generating device will attempt to return to its original undeformed shape thus exerting a force along a longitudinal axis. Preferably, the force generating device is employed in an orthodontic assembly. For example, the force generating device can be employed in an orthodontic assembly for developing a patient's arch.
