The second network address is different from the first network address. The first network address matches a packet filter for directing the data traffic to a bearer and the second network address does not match this packet filter, but may rather match another packet filter.

    • A method is described for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1 ) of a communication network. The data packet is sent in a data flow from an application function of the user equipment, the packet bearer (PB) is established with the user equipment to transmit the data packet (DP) over the communication network towards a further entity, and the user equipment is adapted to establish different packet bearers. The method comprises the steps of identifying the flow with the data packet in a control entity of the communication network, determining the packet bearer for association with said flow from the different packet bearers in a policy function of the control entity, determining a routing level identification of the further entity, instructing the user equipment to install a packet filter based on the routing level identification, wherein the packet filter associates data packets comprising the routing level identification of the further entity with the determined packet bearer, providing the routing level identification to the application function, including the routing level identification into the data packet, and forwarding the data packet (DP) on the determined packet bearer (PB). A corresponding network, control entity, monitoring entity and computer program are also described.

    • A method for associating a data packet (DP) with a packet bearer (PB) in a user equipment (UE1) of a communication network is proposed. The packet bearer (PB) transmits the data packet (DP) to a communication entity in the communication network. The communication network comprises at least one control entity (PCRF A) to exchange signaling information with the user equipment (UE1). The user equipment (UE1) comprises at least one executing unit (EU) for executing one or more applications (APP) which create the data packet (DP), a packet marking entity (PME) for marking at least one control field (CF) in the data packet and a transmission unit (TU) for sending the data packet (DP) on the packet bearer (PB). After setting up the packet bearer (PB) between the transmission unit (TU) and the communication entity, a first signaling (SIG1) of filter parameters for defining a packet filter (PF) is received by the user equipment (UE1 ). The filter parameters correspond to a packet marking. A second signaling (SIG2) of the packet marking from the control entity is received by the user equipment (UE1) and forwarded to the packet marking entity (PME). The data packet is marked with the signaled packet marking. The packet filter (PF) corresponding to the filter parameters is established for scanning data packets forwarded from the executing unit (EU) to the transmission unit (TU) and is associated with the packet bearer (PB). The data packet (DP) with the marking corresponding to the filter parameters is forwarded on the associated packet bearer (PB). A corresponding mobile network, control entity, user equipment and computer program are also described.

    • New methods and devices for implementing an ARQ mechanism over a multi-hop connection (sender-relay-receiver) are proposed. A communication protocol is described in accordance with which data units are arranged in a sequence and each sent data unit is identifiable by a sequence position identifier. The sender implements a sending peer, the relay a relay peer and the receiver a receiving peer. Feedback messages are exchanged, which using said sequence position identifiers, carry information on a receipt of sent data units. The communication protocol provides for at least a first type and a second type of receipt information, the first type (RACK) of receipt information being indicative of a correct receipt of a data unit at a relay peer of said communication protocol, and the second type (ACK) of receipt information being indicative of a correct receipt of a data unit at a final destination peer of said communication protocol.
