    • The invention relates to a battery module 10 and to a modular battery system 50 comprising a number of modules 10 which are interconnected by way of complementary, mating electrical connectors, in plug-and-play fashion. Each module 10 includes a cell 12 housed within a housing 14, a first pair of electrical connectors 20, 21 disposed on opposite end faces and a second pair of electrical connectors 22, 23 arranged on opposing top and bottom faces and switching circuitry 27 which includes a pair of switches 26, 28 and switchgear which are configured automatically to connect/disconnect the cell 21 from the electrical connectors depending on a position of the respective switches 26, 28 in order to prevent incorrect installation of the modules 10. Furthermore, an advantage of the system 50 is the ease of interconnection and disconnection without needing tools to secure the modules together.

    • A bat 10 for playing ball games comprises a handle 12 and a ball-striking head 14 having a monolithic structure comprising a pair of spaced apart outer lattices 16 which define rigid, unstressed ball-striking surfaces and a plurality of discrete internal struts 26 which are integrally moulded with the lattices so as to extend between the lattices. Each nodal area comprises a web having an irregular outer surface provided by perforations in the web which reduce an unpleasant high-pitched noise generated when a resilient ball having a smooth outer surface is struck by the bat.

    • A streamer ball (10) for use in bat and ball type games, comprises an impact body (12), a tail formed of flexible streamers and a spacer stem (16) having the tail attached thereto. The impact body (12) comprises a hemispherical front body part (18) and a frusto-conical rear body part (20) which are glued to one another along a joint plane (22). The rear body part (20) tapers rearwardly from the front body part which includes a resiliently compressible frontal impact zone which can be struck by a bat. The rear body part defines spaced circumferential grooves 25.1 and 25.2. The teardrop shape of the impact body provides the ball with a streamlined profile which reduces the effect of turbulence at the trailing end of the impact body rendering the ball suitable for use in windy conditions. The teardrop profile also causes the impact body to quickly turn over and stabilize in flight after impact by a bat.
