    • A method of cleaning can bodies (100) having a continuous sidewall closed at one end by an integral bottom portion opposite an open end is described. A can body transporter (11a) is populated a plurality of can bodies (100). The transporter (11a) transfers can bodies (100) through a can body washer apparatus (10) from an entry end to a delivery end. A plurality of spray bars (16a-h) are located between the entry end and the delivery end and delivers a washing solution (204) to the plurality of can bodies (100). A substantially constant can body population density is maintained on the can body transporter (11a) by controlling a speed of the can body transporter (11a) relative to a rate of production of can bodies (100) produced by an upstream can body making apparatus. A time duration of an exposure of the plurality of can bodies (100) to the solution (204) is controlled by regulating delivery of the solution (204).

    • An apparatus (100) for forming a container body from a metal blank has a ram (114), a blank holder (118), an annular die (122), an annular die holder (128), an insert (400) and a plurality of ironing rings (134). The ram (1 14) is centered about a longitudinal axis (50). The blank holder (118) has an aperture through which the ram passes. The annular die (122) is substantially axially aligned with the ram and adapted to allow the ram (114) to pass therethrough. The insert (400) is located within the recess between the annular, arcuate concave surface (300) and the annular die (122). The insert (400) has a support surface (404) for supporting the annular die (122) thereon opposite an annular, arcuate, convex surface (408) in operative engagement with the annular, arcuate concave surface and swivelable thereon. The plurality of ironing rings (134) is substantially axially aligned with the ram (114).

    • A method of treating a plurality of fines of a dusting material to prevent emanation of dust from the dusting material is described. An aqueous solution comprising a mixture of soluble non-ionic cellulose ether, a plasticizer, and a surfactant is provided. The aqueous solution is applied to a dusting material comprising a plurality of fines. The dusting material is transferred during the applying step from a first location to a second location as the aqueous solution is applied to the plurality of fines. The dusting material is mixed with the aqueous solution to coat the plurality of fines with the aqueous solution. The treated dusting material is accumulated into a mass of the material subsequent to the applying step wherein the aqueous solution is substantially evenly distributed throughout an interior portion of the mass of the treated dusting material.
