The protocol may be generated at a seismic recording system, source control software running on a processor, or generated from a seismic energy source encoder. The protocol may consist of an encoder message that includes start information and that is combined with a request for information contained at the seismic energy source. The requested information may be sent in a decoder message that is returned in synchronized manner.

摘要： Systems and methods for seismic data acquisition employing a dynamic multiplexing technique. The dynamic multiplexing technique may include advancing one or more modules in a seismic array through a multiplexing signature sequence in successive transmission periods. The multiplexing signature sequence may be random or pseudo-random. A shared multiplexing signature sequence may be used at all the modules in the seismic array. As such, modules belonging to a common collision domain may operate out of phase with respect to the shared multiplexing signature sequence.

摘要： An embodiment of the invention may extend the range of wireless communications in a seismic acquisition survey. The embodiment may leverage the infrastructure of a hard-wired communications backbone by appending wireless cells to the hard-wired communications. This may allow, for example, a recording truck to control remotely located seismic sources via wireless communications in the spread. Another embodiment includes a communication system for servicing field equipment. The embodiment provides for a fully or semi automated process for communicating equipment failures between survey personnel (e.g., recording truck operators and line observers). The embodiment establishes an end-to-end channel between, for example, the recording truck and field crew members. Other embodiments are disclosed herein.

摘要： A method for obtaining location information about a well as it is being drilled through a subsurface, comprises: providing at least one fiber optic cable deployed in a borehole within acoustic range of the well, the proximal end of the cable being coupled to a light source and a photodetector, the fiber optic cable being acoustically coupled to the subsurface formation so as to allow acoustic signals in the subsurface to affect the physical status of the cable, providing an acoustic source in the well, transmitting at least one light pulse into the cable, receiving at the photodetector a first light signal indicative of the physical status of at least one first section of the cable. The first section is selected so that the first light signal provides information about the position of the acoustic source, and outputting at least the information to a display.
