摘要： A method and apparatus for forming a workpiece blank of a relatively rigid plastic material, such as polyethylene therephthalate into a desired shaped product (322). The apparatus comprises an upper die (302) and a lower die (306) wherein the lower die (306) has first (308) and second (310) moveable parts which function to shear the workpiece blank from a continuous strip (316) of the relatively rigid plastic material and then to cooperate with the upper die (302) to reshape the workpiece blank into the desired shape. The second part (310) is also provided with escape passageways, for excess plastic material, located so as to orient the plastic material and thus increase the strength of the plastic material in the shaped product (322). The product can be a plastic tab used to apply pressure to a portion of a container end member so as to form an opening therein.
