    • The cutting device has two cutter components. It is especially suitable for split plain tiles. The cutter carriers (25) may be pivoted into their inoperative and operative positions. Each cutter (25) is connected to a spindle (29, 30), the spindles being arranged coaxially (40) one within the other. Thus the cutter carriers pivot about the same axis (40) at the same time in the manner of scissors. The cutter carriers (25) are forked and the cutters (26) are in the form of wires and interchangeable. This cutting device is permanently installed on the extruding press belt. It is nevertheless easy to regulate, can be monitored and operates reliably.

    • A method is disclosed of forming a honeycomb extrusion body mixer comprising providing a honeycomb extrusion body (20) having multiple cells (22) extending along a common direction from a first end of the body (20) to a second end and separated by cell walls (30); forming one or more apertures (36), through respective cell walls (30) between one or more respective pairs of said multiple cells such that each aperture (36) has an aperture width measured perpendicular to the common direction (D) of 90% or less of a cell wall width of the respective cell wall (30) measured perpendicular to the common direction (D); and plugging the respective pair of cells at one side of the respective associated aperture (36). Mechanical machining processes, laser machining, or chemical machining may be used, desirably on a green state honeycomb extrusion body (20). The apertures (36) are desirably formed through machining at or through one or both end faces of the honeycomb body (20). Machining through a side of the body (20) is an alternative.

    • Cutting and grinding of ceramic-type logs to a desired piece length is disclosed. A method of manufacturing ceramic ware is disclosed which comprises transversely cutting a piece from a ceramic-type log having a longitudinal axis by cutting into the log with a blade at a location along the length of the log to form a cut transverse surface on the piece and grinding the cut transverse surface with a side of the blade. An apparatus for manufacturing ceramic ware is also disclosed comprising means for transversely cutting a piece from a ceramic -type log having a longitudinal axis, including a blade for cutting into the log at a location along the length of the log to form a cut transverse surface on the piece, and means for grinding the cut transverse surface with a side of the blade.
