The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing a conveyor idler roller, and more particularly, but not exclusively, to a method of manufacturing a nylon or engineering plastic conveyor idler. The method includes the steps of providing at least two cylindrical shell elements made of a synthetic material, the shell elements having complementary profiled ends in order for the ends to mate when the shell elements are located end-to-end adjacent one another; and securing the cylindrical elements to one another by way of a friction welding process in order to form a composite shell.

摘要： A method and apparatus for cutting moils from necks of molded plastic containers and installing spouts in the necks are disclosed. The apparatus includes a pick and place mechanism that rotates along an arcuate path transporting the containers between a cutting station, a facing station and an assembly station positioned along the path. An oven located above the assembly station heats spouts which are coated with a hot-melt adhesive. The heated spouts are supplied to the assembly station under gravity feed. The method includes cutting the moils from the container necks at the cutting station, finishing the neck by burnishing and reaming at the facing station, heating the spouts in the oven, orienting the spouts and inserting them into the finished necks of the containers at the assembly station.

摘要： An apparatus, system, and method for friction (spin) welding separate parts of a plastic component to one another. The apparatus includes a rotational drive assembly coupled to a turret assembly arranged to be rotationally driven thereby about a longitudinal axis. The turret assembly includes at least one drive mechanism and a plurality of spindle assemblies disposed circumferentialIy around the longitudinal axis, each spindle assembly defining a spindle axis and including coupled to a chuck configured to receive and hold a first part of the plastic component. The chuck is configured to move along the respective spindle axis to contact the first part of the plastic component with a second part of the plastic component. The at least one drive mechanism is configured to move the chuck and the first part relative to the second part at a speed sufficient to permanently bond the first part to the second part during rotation of the turret assembly.
