    • A linear motion bearing assembly includes (a) first and second interlocking bearing blocks (1, 2), each having an inner wall which together define an axial space; and (b) a load bearing assembly (42) disposed within the axial space of the interlocking bearing blocks, said load bearing assembly including first and second joinable sleeves, and at least one first load bearing structure (54) disposed within the joined sleeves which includes an inner surface with ball bearings, and at least one second load bearing structure (5) disposed within the joined sleeves which includes an inner low friction surface for facilitating sliding contact with a shaft, but including no ball bearings, the inner surfaces of said first and second load bearing structures together defining an axial channel through which the shaft is disposed and linearly and/or rotatably movable therein.

    • A clutch (40) connecting an input (42) to an output (44) and allowing the output to freewheel in an overrun condition. An input cam (50) rotates relative to the output to move a roller (60) radially outwardly to wedge between the input and output in an engaged mode. Cooperating cage members (54L,54R) defining a wedge-shaped opening for the roller move apart when the cam forces the roller radially outwardly. An elastic member (64) urges the cage members together to move the roller radially inwardly against sloped surfaces (62) of the wedge-shaped opening in the overrun condition. Relative movement of the cage members may be in an axial direction wherein the sloped surfaces act on ends of the roller, or it may be in a rotational direction about a drive axis wherein the sloped surfaces act on the longitudinal surface of the roller.
