    • Management of native subscriber registrations on a foreign network (110) is accomplished via an approach that advantageously offers dynamic roaming, that is, the capability to send data over-the-air to populate a customer subscriber identity module (SIM) card with specific networks, in a specific order of preference, according to the characteristics and capabilities of the subscriber mobile station (304), the subscriber's home network (106), the foreign territory roamed, and the like. The approach also provides an SS7 service-based solution including the capability of the home network (106) to control the roaming mobile station (304) from registering on a non-preferred visited network, based on configurable rules. The approach provides the ability to segment subscribers, increased/assured quality of service, no limits on designation of carrier preferences, the ability to apportion roaming traffic across numerous operators in a given foreign territory, capability for realtime changes of preferred network, and preservation of manual network selection capabilities.

    • A method and system for facilitating activation of a mobile device by an end user, where the end user may initiate the activation from the mobile device. Prior to activation, the mobile device is configured with a permanent identifier that is known by a select network service provider. The inactive mobile device sends a request for access that is ultimately received at a system of the service provider. The request includes the permanent identifier. Based on the permanent identifier, if the service provider recognizes the mobile device as having an inactive status, it provides the mobile device with access to an activation component portion of the system. Once the mobile device has access to the activation component, the end user of the mobile device can provide the activation component with activation information so that the mobile device can be activated and have increased access to the system.

    • An RF (radio frequency) combiner utilizes RF filtering cavities and transmission paths incorporated into an RF impervious material. This allows traditional stand-alone multiplexers to be integrated into a single device without using signal loss-inducing cables and connections between the multiplexers. The simplicity of the RF combiner allows for RF filters to be milled out of the same RF impervious material without requiring an external RF connection and avoids a cascading of multiple RF filters. In one instance, the RF combiner is employed with two BTS (base transceiver stations) to allow the sharing of antennas without the power losses associated with traditional cascading duplexers.
