The cervical cap has an open end portion (140), a dome-shaped portion (120), preferably sealed, disposed opposite the open end portion (140), and a ridged section (150) designed to grip the cervix to secure the cap. In the preferred embodiments, the ridged section (150) has a plurality of substantially parallel ring-shaped ridges (152, 154, 156) formed on the interior surface of the cap. In an alternate embodiment, a helical-shaped ridge (452) is formed on the interior surface (410) of the cap (40) and extends from the rim (430) to the dome portion (420), progressively narrowing in width.

摘要： This invention relates to a condom for a woman which can be fitted easily and quickly into the vaginal opening of her own volition and can insure contraception and can prevent venereal infection. The condom consists of a sack portion (2) to be fitted to the vaginal opening whose tip is closed and a flange portion (4) to be fitted and rested on the vaginal opening which extends from the periphery of the opening at the base end of the sack portion (2) and is integrally formed with the former in the shape of a peaked cap. When the condom is not in use, the sack portion is folded in bellows-like form and the condom body (1) is covered with a peelable sheet member (6). When it is to be used, the sack portion is fitted into the vaginal opening and is held there by the flange portion itself or by separate fitting means (8). Furthermore, when the sack portion is fitted into the vaginal opening, an insertion member which can be utilized and which can be fitted into and removed from the cap-like member, is combined with the latter.
