    • A firearm security device including a frame to which a fixed plate and a movable plate are attached. A grip pad is attached to each of the opposing inner sides of the fixed and movable plates. A trigger guard stud is attached to and projects from the inner face of the fixed plate. The trigger guard stud inserts through the trigger guard of the firearm. Means are provided for shifting the movable plate from an open position wherein the firearm is positioned with the trigger guard stud projecting through the trigger guard, to a closed position where the movable plate is positioned substantially parallel to the fixed plate and at least a portion of the receiver of the firearm is held in a compressive grip between the grip pads. A lock selectively restricts operation of the shifting means and the movable plate.

    • A firearm locking mechanism (10) for handguns (120) primarily comprising a locking assembly (20) with first and second ends, said first end having first and second arms bifurcated parallel and spaced apart to receive a handgun. The locking assembly further has an elongated member (22), which serves as latching means to remove the firearm from the locking assembly. Interacting with the elongated member is a locking system controlled by a key, giving the authorized user the ability to set the firearm locking assembly in a "locked" or "unlocked" mode. The firearm locking assembly prevents the removal of the handgun when the trigger guard (122) is obstructed within the first and second arms. The present invention is primarily utilized with firearms such as pistols and revolvers.

    • The present invention is a method and system for providing a firearm safety lock. In the invention, a trigger guard is slidably mounted in the firearm frame thus allowing the trigger guard to slide from a home position to a locking position. A locking mechanism is mounted on the forward end of the trigger guard, so that by sliding the trigger guard forward the locking mechanism is brought into a locking position to prevent the trigger guard from sliding backward. When the trigger guard is in the home or rearward position, then a trigger mounted in the frame can be pulled back to cause the firearm to fire. However, when the trigger guard is in the locking or forward position, then the trigger cannot be pulled back and the firearm cannot be fired. The engagement of the locking means is initiated by engaging a lock plate integrally mounted on the frame or exterior portion of the firearm. The locking mechanism is secured to the lock plate until the mechanism is unlocked and slid rearward along the mounting track. In another embodiment of the invention, the locking mechanism is mounted on the frame or exterior portion of the firearm so that by sliding the trigger guard forward, the trigger guard is coupled with the locking mechanism and trigger guard is locked in place. A spring subassembly is provided within the lock mechanism for causing the trigger guard to be released when the lock mechanism is unlocked.

    • A striker- fired firearm with lockable manual safety and method of use. The firearm in one embodiment includes a frame, a chamber for receiving a cartridge, a striker movable to strike the cartridge, a trigger movably mounted to the frame, a trigger bar coupled to the trigger and operable to engage and release the striker to discharge the firearm, a manually-operated safety adapted to engage the trigger bar and selectively movable between a first deactivated position and a second activated position wherein the safety engages the trigger bar to prevent release of the striker, and a cylindrical locking member rotationally disposed in the frame. In one embodiment, the locking member, which may be a lock pin in some embodiments, includes a blocking surface that is engageable with the safety. The blocking surface is rotatable to a blocking position wherein the safety cannot be moved from the second activated position to the first deactivated position by a user. In one embodiment, the blocking surface projects into a slot and engages a protrusion on the safety to block the movement of the safety. Preferably, the locking member is key-operated.
