    • Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zum Er­mitteln des Wankwinkels und ein System sowie ein Verfahren zur Wankstabilisierung eines Kraftfahrzeuges mit einer Gierratensensoreinrichtung (1) eines bestehenden Farhrdynamikregelsystems (150), welche zum Erfassen eines kombinierten Signals bestehend aus Gierrate und Wankrate mit ihrer Messachse in der durch die Längsachse und die Hochachse des Kraftfahrzeu­ges aufgespannten Ebene unter einem vorbestimmten Neigewinkel (α) bzgl. der Hochachse geneigt ist; und mit mindestens einem Beobachter (3) der vorzugsweise als Kalmam-Filter ausgebildet ist, welcher zum Ermitteln des Wankwinkels (φ) das von der Gierratensensoreinrichtung (1) erfasste kombinierte Signal in die beiden Signalanteile Gierrate und Wankrate aufspaltet. Ferner wird der ermittelte Wankwinkel (φ), mit einem vorbestimmten Schellenwert mittels einer Analysatoreinrich­tung (2, 130) verglichen, und eine geeignete Stabilisierungs­massnahme im Falle eines Überschreitens des vorbestimmten Schwellenwertes durch den ermittelten Wankwinkel (φ) mittels einer Aktivierungseinrichtung (130) aktiviert.

The apparatus includes a shock absorber (10) having a pressure cylinder (48) which forms a working chamber (50) and a first and second portion. A first sensor (308) is used to generate an electrical signal in response to whether the shock absorber (10) is in compression or rebound. A second sensor (364) is used for determining the movement of the body on the automobile (12). An electronic control module (34) is used for generating an electrical control signal in response to the outputs of the first and second sensors. A solenoid (392) is used for regulating the flow of damping fluid between the first and second portions of the working chamber (50). A piston assembly (46) disposed within the pressure cylinder (48) defines the first and second portions of the working chamber (50). The piston assembly (46) includes a valve body (122) and first and second unloaders (198) adapted to control the flow of fluid between the first and second portions of the working chamber (50). At least one of the unloaders (198) being located external to the valve body (122).

    • An adjustable damping valve for incorporation in the bypass passage (9) of an adaptive shock absorber, comprises at least one inlet (12) through which hydraulic fluid medium enters the adjustable damping valve (10) and an outlet (20) through which it exits the adjustable damping valve (10). A controllable valve (15, 16, 17) controls the flow of hydraulic fluid medium through the adjustable damping valve (10) between the said at least one inlet (11) and the said outlet (20). The controllable valve (15, 16, 17) comprises a valve member (15) which is moveable against resilient biasing means (19) urging it into co-operation with a port or orifice (13) and the controllable valve (15, 16, 17) is adapted, such that, in use, its response to a control signal is delayed and the valve member (15) remains closed until the force developed across it drops below a predetermined thereshold level.
