Wedge fasteners (52,54) are applied to flanges (44) on the top and bottom edges of the saddle sections (40,42) to secure them on the laterals (30). The outlet fittings (60) are offset below center on the saddle sections (40, 42) so that both the laterals (30) and diffusers (68) can be located adjacent to the floor. The diffusers (68) with a saddle section (40,42) attached to each can be shipped in a compact configuration in shipping cartons.

A grid of uniformly spaced fine-bubble diffusers is used to establish large area of bubble-laden liquid, having a substantially uniform density. The uniform density prevents the formation of any upwardly directed currents within the interior portion of the area. Bubble residence time is maximized, due to the absence of the currents, thus increasing the efficiency of dissolving the gas in the liquid.

摘要： The intensive fattening of fish in open waters is increasingly pertubed by pollutant deposits. Fish fattening in artificial pools is uneconomical because of the high consumption of freshwater and the surface area required. These disadvantages can be avoided by a specially-designed fish basin and a new process for using such a basin. The fish basin (10) is provided, along its longitudinal centre-line, with a trough (11) in which is placed a bed structure (31) with perpendicularly extending flow ducts (37). About thirty times an hour the fish water is circulated via these flow ducts, with an air/oxygen mixture. Microorganisms which adhere to the bed structure biologically clean (nitrify) the fish water by means of the adhesive activated sludge process. Depending on the type of fish, 50 to 500 litres of freswater is added to the fish water per kg of fish growth.

摘要： In a submerged membrane bioreactor (MBR or SMU), diffusers are used to eject air bubbles, primarily to facilitate the movement of mixed liquor past the membrane surfaces, cleaning and scouring the surfaces of the membranes with the mechanical energy of the combined air/liquid/solids movement. Oxygen transfer from the bubbles into the mixed liquor is often a secondary goal, for supplying oxygen to biological processes. The invention involves the use of a specific bubble diffuser, oriented at a selected upward angle to enable a single style diffuser to accomplish simultaneous generation of mid-size and fine bubble aeration, with adjustment of the tilt angle varying the percentages of mid-size and fine bubble aeration. The angle selection, along with the number of diffusers and air volume selected, allows achievement of target liquid movement through the MBR.
