摘要： The present invention relates to a stiffening layer (4) for facilitating application of a plastic film (2) to skin, said plastic film being a component in a wound dressing (1) or other medical device and having said stiffening layer (4) removably attached to one side thereof, at least a part of the other side of said film being provided with a layer of self- adhering adhesive (3). The stiffening layer (4) is made of a stretchable material having a thickness of between 0.5 - 10 mm. According to the invention the stiffening layer covers the whole area of the film and is divided into two or more portions by cutting line or lines.

摘要： The invention relates to a thin film dressing having a release liner which is able to support the dressing during application. The resilience or stiffness of the release liner is higher ' than the resilience or stiffness of the dressing so as to enable the control of the dressing during application. The invention further relates to a method of application of the thin film dressing where a minor part of the dressing initially is applied to the skin afterwards the dressing is folded backwards so the release liner faces upwards. Finally, the remaining part of the dressing is applied by pushing the release liner forwards in a rolling motion thereby rolling the dressing onto the skin. This dressing assembly allows the dressing to be applied by using only one hand.

摘要： Awound dressing includes an absorbent core defining opposed proximal and distal surfaces and a plurality of receptacles formed therein. A liquid impervious, vapor permeable backing layer is connected to at least a portion of the distal surface of the absorbent core. The receptacles open at the distal surface of the absorbent core and extend a distance into the thickness of the absorbent core. Each receptacle contains a plurality of discrete portions of absorbent material. The backing layer is configured to be sufficiently distensible to permit expansion and migration of at least some of the discrete portions of absorbent material from the receptacles upon absorption of exudate by the wound dressing. A method for making the absorbent core of the wound dressing includes forming receptacles in the absorbent core and filling such receptacles with an absorbent material.

摘要： Multilayer anti-microbial materials formed to produce an interference colour, and thus an indicator of anti-microbial effect, are provided. The materials include a partly reflective base layer and a partly reflective, partly transmissive top layer balanced to produce an interference colour. The top layer is formed from an anti-microbial metal with atomic disorder. Dissolution or a change in composition of the top layer on contacting an alcohol or electrolyte causes a change in optical path length so as to produce a change in the interference colour of the material. Multilayer, laminated wound dressings are also provided. The dressing includes a first and second layer, and preferably a third layer. The first and third layers are formed of perforated, non-adherent materials and most preferably carry an anti-microbial coating as above. The second layer is sandwiched between the first and third layers and is formed of an absorbent material. At least one of the layers is formed from a plastic material. The layers are laminated together by ultrasonic welds spaced intermittently on the dressing to allow the dressing to be cut to size with delaminating.
