    • The aim of the invention is to increase UV sensitivity of Gram-positive bacteria that do not belong to the species Bacillus megaterium. Said aim is achieved by functionally deactivating: a) a part of the uvrBA operon that does not comprise the genes uvrA and uvrB, or b) the genes uvrA and uvrB and/or the gene uvrC of said bacteria or the respective homologues thereof from the respective bacterium. The stems obtained in said manner are particularly UV-sensitive and are thus suitable as safety stems for biotechnological production. Said deactivation can be combined with other deactivation options, especially deactivation of recA and/or deactivation of sporulation genes. Also disclosed are corresponding possible uses for parts of the bacterial uvrBA operon and/or the uvrC gene and for oligonucleotides suitable for carrying out the deactivation process, as well as corresponding bacterial stems and fermentation processes carried out therewith.
