    • Various embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods and systems for circumventing, and altering transmission-channel users of, transmission-channel disruptions. In one embodiment of the present invention, a source (1602, 1702) encodes information in a first signal and transmits the first signal in a source channel (1610, 1712) to a multiplexer (1604, 1704). The multiplexer (1604, 1704) distributes the first signal over N transmission channels (1612, 1718). A demultiplexer (1606, 1806) combines the signals distributed over the N transmission channels (1612, 1718) into a second signal encoding of the information. The distribution system also includes a detector (1608,1730) that receives the second signal output from the demultiplexer (1606, 1706), and one or more detectors (1620, 1732) that receive one or more additional signals output from the demultiplexer (1606, 1706). The additional signals are produced by the demultiplexer (1606, 1706) when a disruption occurs in one or more of the transmission channels and are used to alert transmission-channel users of the disruption.
