The body (30) includes a base (50), a conduit (70) that is reciprocatable relative to the base (50), and a flexible wall (80) joining the conduit (70) to the base (50). The conduit (70) includes a dispensing aperture (84) and a first seal surface (116). A spout (40) is carried on, and is rotatable relative to, the body (30). The spout (40) includes a dispensing orifice (42) and a second seal surface (130) for engaging the first seal surface (116). The body (30) and spout (40) together define a rotary-to-linear motion translation drive system that is (1) responsive to the rotation of the spout (40) in one direction for moving the conduit (70) in a first direction to a closed position, and (2) responsive to the rotation of the spout (40) in the opposite direction for moving the conduit (70) in a second direction opposite from the first direction to an open position.

The closure (20) includes an actuator (60) pivotally mounted along a tilting axis (T) on a body (24) secured to the container. The closure body (24) includes an annular wall (26) in which the actuator (60) is received, and the annular wall (26) includes an inwardly projecting interference member (100) which underlies the actuator engagable surface (104) and prevents tilting of the actuator (60) unless a sufficient predetermined, initial opening force is exerted on the actuator (60) to cause permanent, plastic deformation of the engagable surface (104) and/or interference member (100). Thereafter, the actuator (60) can be tilted to the open dispensing position a second or subsequent times in response to subjecting the actuator (60) to a force less than the predetermined, initial opening force.
