    • A cyclic prefix which duplicates some samples of a terminal portion of a symbol in an OFDM data stream and which is invariant in pilot tones can be detected in the presence of signals having higher levels of noise and broadcast signals by autocorrelation with one of two selected "lags". Autocorrelation will be found when the lag is equal to the number of samples in the FFT used to form a symbol in the data stream. A far stronger autocorrelation is found when the lag is equal to the sum of the FFT length and the length of the cyclic prefix and applied to pilots in the data stream. Overbuilt systems can be distinguished from a system of interest by use of pilots that do not coincide in frequency with a pilot of an overbuilt system.

    • An electro-hydrodynamic (EHD) device is provided in combination with a bottle. The bottle comprises a container including a liquid formulation to be comminuted into a spray of droplets and a wick extending into the container. The wick has an end portion. The EHD device comprises a first conductive element at a first electrical potential. The EHD device further comprises a second conductive element at a second electrical potential. The first and second electrical potentials at the first and second conductive elements result in a strong electric field being generated in the vicinity of the first element end section. The bottle may be removably coupled to the EHD device.

    • An underwater diving mask (10) for use by a diver in an underwater diving environment has a viewing portion defined by the diver's face and a lens, a visual display device (68) proximate the viewing portion to provide visual images to the diver, a speaking chamber (94) configured to sealing engage a portion of the diver's mouth to permit the diver to speak, and a sound transducer (92) located proximal the speaking chamber (94). A computer system (16) is disposed in a portion of the mask and is operatively coupled to the sound transducer (92) and to the visual display device (68), where the computer system (16), the viewing portion and the speaking chamber (94) are sealing isolated from the underwater diving environment. The computer system (16) receives electrical signals produced by the sound transducer (92) and is configured to recognize and identify the electrical signals as spoken words of the diver, such that the identified spoken words provide input to the computer (16) to direct the computer system (16) to provide visual images to the visual display (68) in response thereto, to facilitate hands-free operation of the diver.

    • Radio signals are transmitted from a mobile detection unit such as a service vehicle in response to detection of signal egress from a cable distribution system such as a cable access television (CATV) system and coupled to the cable distribution system for upstream signaling by a resonant antenna such as a resonant loop or halo antenna and a sharply tuned filter to substantially eliminate other terrestrial or atmospheric signals being coupled to the cable distribution system. An optional attenuator may be included to limit signal energy in the upstream signal to prevent system damage. The mobile detection unit also preferably includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver for determining position and time of any detection of signal egress or leaks and the transmitted radio signal preferably includes position and signal strength information. The radio signal is preferably transmitted in a burst having a duty cycle of 10% or less which may be multiplexed with signals from other mobile units preferably synchronized using the GPS time base.
