摘要： A retaining clip for retaining reagent test slides in a stacked arrangement includes a first assembly having a first cover plate and at least two parallel, co-planar rails extending transversely from an inner surface of the first cover plate. A second assembly includes a second cover plate, and a rail receiving platform extending transversely from an inner surface of the second cover plate. The first cover plate and the second cover plate define between them a space for receiving the plurality of reagent test slides. The rails of the first assembly include ratchet teeth, and the rail receiving platform of the second assembly includes pawls. The pawls engage the ratchet teeth to prevent the separation of the first assembly and the second assembly and to securely but removably hold the plurality of reagent test slides in a stacked arrangement between the first and second cover plates.

摘要： A corrosion sensor 2 and method for its use to detect and determine the, type, location, size and growth rate of corrosion of metals and the like in a corrosive environment. The corrosion sensor 2 can distinguish between different types of corrosion such as uniform corrosion, pitting, crevice, and stress corrosion cracking. The sensor 2 detects corrosion conditions of a corrodible metal article in a corrosive environment. It has a metal probe 8 comprised of a metal which is substantially identical to that of the corrodible metal article and a transducer element 4 attached to said probe 8, which is capable of projecting and receiving ultrasonic or radio frequency signals through the probe. The received signals indicate corrosion of the probe and hence the corrodible metal article.

摘要： A bioassay device operable to detect the presence or absence of molecular events within a test sample is presented in four embodiments: a coplanar waveguide detector, a stripline detector, a magic-t detector, and a microstrip detector. The coplanar waveguide detector includes a center gap operable to contact the sample and to electromagnetically couple an incident test signal between the sample and transmission line. The stripline detector includes a sample chamber operable to contain at least a portion of the supplied sample and to electromagnetically couple an incident at least a portion of the supplied sample and to electromagnetically couple an incident test signal between the contained sample and the transmission line. The magic-t detector includes a magic-t coupler and first and second test sample loads electromagnetically coupled thereto. The microstrip detector includes a transmission line, ground plane metallization and a flow channel formed between, and vertically aligned with, the transmission line and ground plane.

摘要： A harmonic radar nonlinear junction detector system for detecting concealed weapons, electronics, and other man-made objects utilizing state-of-the art wireless technology, circuit fabrication, signal synthesis, and computer processing techniques to detect and characterize man-made objects possessing nonlinear junctions. The system transmits a pair of low power waveforms and a receiver within the system is coherently tuned to harmonics of the transmitted frequencies of the waveforms to detect man-made metal objects and electronics that contain non-linear junctions. The receiver is also capable of receiving inter-modulation products reflected from the man-made objects that are a result of using two incident signals. The system uses two signal sources generating user-definable waveforms of variable frequencies in order to provide enhanced discrimination and target identification abilities via the processing of returned inter-modulation products.

摘要： A microwave microscope having a resonant slit (60) formed in a highly conductive end (58) of a microwave waveguide forming a probe tip (50). A short dielectric rod (54) is fit into the waveguide near its conductive end (58). A longer dielectric rod (66) is placed in back of the short dielectric rod (54) with a small gap (68) between the two rods. The length of the shorter rod (54) and the size of the gap (68) are chosen to form a dielectric resonator at the microwave frequency adjacent to the probe tip (50). Thereby, the impedance of the waveguide can be matched to the generally high impedance of the slit probe tip. Preferably, the dielectric constant of the materials is high, thereby reducing the size of the waveguide and probe tip relative to the microwave wavelength.
