    • Optical system for splitting an output beam of a telescope and tracking an astronomical object under investigation that is moving in the focal field of the telescope. The system comprises a first optical element (M10) for splitting the ouput beam at a first focal field into two separate beams, and a second optical element (M11) placed in at least one of the split beams. Optical element (M11) is movable, so that a moving position of an object in the focal field can be imaged on a fixed position. First optical element (M10) images the pupil of the telescope onto second optical element (M11). The splitting mirror may comprise two adjoining concave spherical sections which have mutually non-coincident focal points. The first optical element may be a splitting mirror (M10), said splitting mirror comprising two adjoining concave spherical sections. The splitting mirror (M10) may be a single piece mirror.
