    • Microcuvette set which comprises several cuvettes (5) in a matrix form, arranged so as to be handled as one whole unit.     • The present invention relates to a reaction container that is suitable for conducting PCR. In particular, the invention relates to a pre-loaded reaction container comprising a reagent that is overlaid with a viscous barrier fluid, wherein the viscous barrier fluid seals the reagent from the atmosphere. One or more reaction reagents are added to the pre-loaded reaction container and the container is centrifuged to combine the one or more reaction reagents and the pre-loaded reagent. The pre-loaded reagent is stable at temperatures between 10 and 40°C for many months when immersed within the barrier fluid or is sealed from the atmosphere by the barrier fluid. The present invention also relates to a cap for cooperating engagement with a reaction container, the cap comprising an upper portion for receiving a sample and a lower portion adapted to sealingly engage the inlet aperture of the reaction container to thereby define a reaction chamber between the cap and the reaction container. The upper portion and the lower portion of the cap are in fluid communication by a conduit adapted to substantially retain at least a barrier fluid within the reaction chamber.
