    • A papermaking belt for carrying an embryonic web of paper fibers is disclosed. The papermaking belt has an embryonic web contacting surface and a non-embryonic web contacting surface opposite thereto. The papermaking belt also has a reinforcing structure having a patterned framework disposed thereon and a plurality of non-random distinct pores disposed within the continuous network region. The patterned framework has a continuous network region and a plurality of discrete deflection conduits. The deflection conduits are isolated one from another by the continuous network region. Each of the pores has an opening disposed at a predetermined location upon the embryonic web contacting surface and an opening disposed at a predetermined location upon the non-embryonic web contacting surface. Each of the pores defines a single pathway between the embryonic web contacting surface and the non-embryonic web contacting surface.

    • A forming fabric for a papermaking machine that comprises a machine-side layer and a paper-side layer is disclosed. The machine-side layer includes bottom warp yarns and bottom weft yarns that weave with at least some of the bottom warp yarns. The paper-side layer includes top warp yarns and top weft yarns that weave with at least some of the top warp yarns to create a weave pattern in a repeating pattern area, and at least one of the top weft yarns includes a paper-side float in the repeating pattern area that passes over a number of consecutive top warp yarns. The forming fabric further comprises a set of dual combination binder weft yarns disposed adjacent a top weft yarn. At least one dual combination binder weft yarn of the set weaves with some of the bottom warp yarns and some of the top warp yarns. Each dual combination binder weft yarn of the set includes at least one float in the repeating pattern area that passes over at least one top warp yarn. The at least one float is disposed adjacent to a float of another dual combination binder weft yarn of the set. The at least one float and the adjacent float combine to form a long weft float that passes over the number of consecutive top warp yarns passed over by the paper-side float to match the weave pattern of the top weft yarns. The long weft float occurs at least once in each repeat of the dual combination binder weft yarns.

The invention is characterized in that during production of the pattern i) the position of the continuous strip parallel to its transverse orientation, especially relative to a stationary reference position, is measured and ii) the position of the application device is changed by a correction movement parallel to the transverse orientation of the continuous strip when the position of the continuous strip parallel to its transverse orientation is changed, the correction movement being superimposed to the basic movement.

    • A double layer papermakers' fabric that is particularly suitable for forming or through-air drying (TAD) of high bulk tissue and towel product is provided. The fabric includes a single warp yarn system interwoven with three weft yarn systems such that: a first of the weft yarn systems is located on the paper side (PS) surface of the fabric; a second of the weft yarn systems is located on the machine side (MS) surface of the fabric; and the third weft yarn system is located intermediate between the first and second weft yarn systems. The yarns of the first and second weft yarn systems are interwoven with the warp yarn system such that they are vertically stacked with respect to one another in the fabric. The yarns of the third weft yarn system are interwoven so as to be located in a central plane of the fabric that is intermediate of the first and second weft yarn systems, and each yarn of the third yarn system is located in between the vertically stacked pairs of weft yarns of the first and second weft yarn systems. The warp and weft yarn systems are interwoven according to an asymmetric design which provides generally rectangular pockets on each of the PS and MS of the fabric with the yarns of the third weft yarn system forming the "bottom" of each pocket. There may be from about 50 to 750 pockets per sq. in. of fabric, each ranging in depth from about 0.1mm to about 1.0 mm in depth; these pockets impart unevenness to the fabric surface which assists in creating bulk in the sheet formed or conveyed thereon. The fabrics of the invention also offer low sheet contact area, typically less than 30% of the total fabric surface, and generally in the range of from 15% to about 20%. The fabrics are also highly air permeable to ensure good air flow and drainage of the sheet.
