A motor (12) having a lead-screw (14) moves the lead-screw in a linear manner along an axis (26). An elongated angled member (18) is connected to the lead-screw (14) and abuts the pivot lever (22). The elongated angled member (18) is set at a non-parallel angle with respect to the lead-screw (14) so that as the lead-screw (14) is moved along its axis (26) the elongated angled member (18) causes the pivot lever (22) to pivot, and in turn, causes the mirror (20) to rotate.

    • A measurement system is provided for measuring distances in the anterior chamber of an eye in conjunction with a slit lamp ophtalmologic microscope table. The measurement system includes a linearly movable interface assembly operative to pick up motions of the microscope assembly in a direction along an optical axis of the eye. A linear measurement assembly is coupled to the interface assembly and operative to determine a distance traveled by the interface. The measurement system may further be provided with a three-axis motion assembly and an optical microscope assembly mounted on the motion assembly. An image recording device is optically aligned with the optical microscope assembly to record images from the optical microscope assembly. A controller assembly is operative to control motion of the three-axis motion assembly in a first horizontal direction parallel to an optical axis of an eye of a patient, in a second horizontal direction orthogonal to the first horizontal direction to align the microscope assembly with both eyes, and in a vertical direction. The measurement system with image recording capability may be a stand-along system or incorporated for engagement and disengagement with an existing slit lamp table.

    • An alignment override control for effecting automatic vertical alignment of a test axis of an ophthalmic instrument (10) with the center of an eye is disclosed. The test axis is associated with optical alignment means of the instrument vertically movable by an elevation motor controlled by a motor drive. A joystick (24) and a pair of directional switches (28a, 28b) are connected to the motor drive for manual positioning of the test axis. When the eye comes within a field of view defined by the optical means, the override control disconnects the switches and automatically signals the elevation motor to effect automatic alignment using signal information originating from the optical means.

    • In an apparatus for testing the eyes, comprised of a binocular telescopic magnifier and an ophtalmologic testing apparatus, the main lens (1) of the telescopic magnifier is fixed onto a pivoting mount (3) and may be folded to be put aside of the optical path. The mount (3) is provided with a connexion piece of an ophtalmologic apparatus. Said apparatus may be inserted in the optical path in lieu of the main lens. It is thereby possible to switch rapidly from one apparatus to another, for example, from one slot lamp (13) to an ophtalmometer (6).
