    • A method for synchronizing a casino game playable at a plurality of gaming devices is provided. The method includes receiving, by a server having at least one processor, an indication of a wager from at least one of the plurality of gaming devices, determining, by the server, a schedule for at least one jackpot of the casino game based at least in part on the received indication of the wager, and sending, by the server, the schedule for the at least one jackpot of the casino game to at least a first gaming device and a second gaming device, the sending including sending the schedule to the first gaming device through wired communication channels, and sending the schedule to the second gaming device through at least one wireless communication channel.

It will be appreciated that devices may not be owned and/or operated by the gaming entity and may be operating outside of a domain where the gaming entity is located and/or operates. It will also be appreciated that mobile devices (e.g., cell phones, smartphones) can be operable to allow participation in games managed by a gaming entity. Mobile devices that are owned and operated by private parties can be used outside the primarily domain of a gaming entities, thereby allowing individuals who are not in a casino to participate in a game using their own devices without being physically present at the casino.

    • Trusted Energy Saving (TES) methods applied to server based distributed downloadable gaining for allowing casino operators to significantly reduce their energy bills by placing the main controller of selected unused gaining machines into low-power mode while retaining total control and trust. Trusted Energy Saving is accomplished by: (1) establishing a secure 'out-of-band' communication (or equivalent) between gaming machines and the casino 's management system such that full network security is maintained while the main controller is in low power standby mode. (2) employing intelligent strategies to wake-up and turn-off the main controller of selected gaming machines by anticipating player use, (3) waiving the lengthy security verification required by regulation upon every gaming machine start-up and optionally (4) by displaying video promotional content on each turned-off gaming machine to continue to attract prospective players and to use the timing of each player approach to intelligently structure game menus based on the promotional content that has successfully attracted the player. The mapping of the TES gaming machines that are turned-oil and in low-power mode may be periodically forwarded to the air-conditioning management system and/or to the lighting management system for energy optimization.

    • Various techniques are disclosed for facilitating side wagering activities conducted at a casino which includes a casino gaming network. In at least one embodiment, the gaming network includes a plurality of gaming devices, including a first gaming device. A side wager request may be received for placing a first side wager relating to a first target. In at least one embodiment, the first target may be selected from a group of possible targets which, for example, may include, but are not limited to one or more of the following (or combination thereof): casino players, game tables, electronic gaming devices (EGDs), game themes, game denominations, game paytables, etc. An identity of a first player associated with generating the first side wager request may be determined. A first side wager session may be automatically initiated. In at least one embodiment, the initiation of the first side wager session may include automatically placing the first side wager at the casino gaming network, and associating the placed first side wager with the identified first player. In at least one embodiment, the placing of the first side wager includes placing first wager on a game play-related event or activity associated with the second person, wherein an outcome of the game play-related event or activity is influenced by a decision or action of the second person. In one embodiment, the first side wager includes first side wager criteria specifying that an outcome of the first side wager is related to at least one event associated with a different player's game play which is associated with the first target.

    • Techniques for execution of multiple application programs and their variations are disclosed.
